Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars (I'm 16, but this is easier for me to use).......2007-03-05

I want you! To buy the Human Equation! Best piece of music I've ever heard, anyday. I've been a huge fan of Dream Theaters for a couple years, but this album is getting pretty close to busting them of my number 1 favourite music :D

1 out of 5 stars 50% awful.......2006-10-19

I bought the 2 CD set, but was only able to listen to the first one.

I was overwhelmed by the incessant Prog Metal cliches, particularly the Cookie Monster vocals.

They disfigure almost every track--but those tracks are already pretty loud and pointless.

Surely such retching vocals will hurt the singer's (?) voice?

One can hope so. Maybe it will put him out of action, and there will be one less Cookie Monster growler.

Don't know about Disc 2. Couldn't stomach the idea of hearing more of this.

I sold it.

4 out of 5 stars I have a problem with..........2006-09-17

The story--- guy in coma revisits childhood w/ abusive father.. etc.
I got more out of "My House On Mars" once than this CD 10 times.
There really aren't any gems, nothing trademark Ayreon.
BUT definately give it a try, he seems to have something for everyone.

4 out of 5 stars Great music, silly story.......2006-07-25

Arjen Lucassen has created another well-done rock opera. If your not a fan of this genre it could be a difficult listen as the vibrato male vocals (or numerous vocalists on one song) can be taxing at times, and some of the music is similar to what you would hear at the Renaissance festival. However, the majority of the disc has plenty of heavy rock, prog, great musicianship, and outstanding engineering. Arjen plays most instruments and sings on occasion, is accompanied by several guest musicians, eight male and three female vocalists, and Ed Warby pounds the skins with authority. The story is kind of silly (man in coma deals with various issues/emotions subconsciously) and there is a sort of unexpected conclusion. Over 102 minutes long, this 2 CD set loaded with great music speaks for itself.

5 out of 5 stars Too many adjectives to describe........2006-06-16

I've probably reviewed this album before, but it deserves multiple reviews. This is, plain and simple, one of the best albums ever created. Intriguing, intense, melodic, intelligent... It's almost aggravating that I can't come up with words to describe how much I love this album.
