Customer Reviews:
A good cd 3/5.......2006-07-07
This cd was pretty good , but when I got it I had already owned Summer Of Darkness, so it wasn't as cool, because I think Summer Of darkness is a little bit better. I enjoy this cd, but if I hadn't owned SOD I would of enjoyed it much more.
good but not their best.......2006-06-30
First off, I want to say that Summer of Darkness is this band's best release. This disc had a lot more singing than Summer of Darkness, which I thought was a little bit of a setback. Although, My Throat is an Open Grave is an amazing ballad and one of my favorites. Other notable songs on the album are Screams of the Undead, I Have Seen Where it Grows, Infected, and Through the Black. This was a good release but certainly not their best work.
Above The Rest & Breaking Down Walls.......2006-06-14
Metalcore is not a Genre of Metal that I care for much. Most Metalcore bands tend to all sound alike and their lyrics are uaually aimed torward suicide and other immature similarities. On the same side m also not a fan of the Christian Metal movement, Why? Because im not Christian and most Christian bands are to to lyrically based and have to say "God" at least 60 times through out the album.
Now, Demon Hunter defy both of these obsticles! They are a Metalcore band of sorts, In which they mix Clean & Hardcore vocals in many of their songs and do it flawlessly. Infact the Clean VS the Hardcore vocals are the best i've heard. Most of the songs are fast paced with well done Guitar, Drumming & Bass. Such songs like "Infected" have very Melodic chourus' in which are done better then most.
As far as the Christian Metal part goes, I really honestly wouldn't know they were a Christian Metal group if fans hadn't constantly reassured me they are. This is good, Because many Christian bands sacrifice talent for making their albums obscenely religous, Thus the reason why Demon Hunter is so easily respect in the usual Metal circles. God/Jesus is not the main point of the lyrical content and as such we don't hear a bunch of cheezy lyrics like "God loves you all" or "Jesus is with you" and such.. Stuff like that is very unoriginal and should be left to Church Choirs.. Not the metal scene.
As such, This is an excellent addition to any Metal Lovers collection reguardless of your religious intent or the lack of one. Good music is Good music reguardless of your beliefs and your faith. Also if you like this make sure to look into Demon Hunters other more recent releases as well, They are just as good, if not better then this one!

First Album Of DEMON HUNTER!.......2006-04-05
This cd is great but I still think that Summer Of Darkness and Triptych are their best work. So Listen to this and the other albums too. These dudes are probably the best out there!!! Go Listen Now!!!
THIS BAND RAWKS!.......2006-01-21
You know it's a little disturbing that I hear about other Christians who don't think that this band is Christian because it's hard rock. They think that yelling and screaming into a microphone isn't Christian-like. Well let me ask you...when pastors are suddenly filled with the Holy Spirit do they not suddenly yell or shout? Also don't you feel the same way sometimes when you are filled? On another note...this band is extremely talented. I would love to go to one of their concerts. If you like heavy rock you shouldn't be disappointed with this band and please don't diss it because it's Christian.
