Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Anyone who likes metal and doesen't like this album is going telent deaf.......2006-12-11

One of the best. This owns metallica black album in every way. Truly great classic Megadeth songs, lyrics, and riffs. Get this now if you like Megadeth, one of their best albums.

5 out of 5 stars Tight is ..as tight does.......2006-08-23

I love it when some people give a review of a CD and compare it to something else.. as if the CD they are reviewing didnt sound enough like their favorite band(s) or something along those lines. PFFTOOEY!

I have had this CD for the last 10 years or so, and although heavy metal as I knew it has pretty much gone by the wayside .. this CD continues to be one of my all-time favorite HM CD's, one which I still listen to. Before buying this CD, I had already owned KISB and SFSGSW.. and was a little surprised at how this music went a bit towards the mainstream. That was until I heard the CD all the way through. The guitars-drums-bass are so tight it makes me wonder if they had to redo some of the songs over and over until they got it right..PERFECT even. I consider this CD a HM masterpiece. Megadeth was able to take their music and make it tighter without giving up their musical identity.

I could care less who they DONT sound like.

4 out of 5 stars another great Megadeth album.......2006-06-22

I've been a big Megadeth fan since KIMB, have seen Mustaine in concert, and own all of the Megadeth releases to date (as of 2006. The only Remaster version I have is of MD45, of which I have the original version and the remaster.)

Countdown is one of my favorites, rivialing the first 3 releases of KIMB, Peace, and So Far. It's a heavy metal album, but the songs also stick in your head and have catchy choruses and riffs. All in all another stellar CD from the Mustaine crew. I give it 4 stars because it's not quite up to par with KIMB or Peace Sells but it's still great. It's in my top 5 Megadeths for sure. Standout tracks include Skin of My Teeth, Symphony of Destruction, Foreclosure of a Dream, Sweating Bullets, and High Speed Dirt. I can listen to this CD from start to finish without skipping a track. If you are into Megadeth, this is a must have.

4 out of 5 stars Symphony of extinction.......2006-06-21

INTRO:Megadeth had released what many consider to be their best album two years before this release `Rust in peace`.Now comes countdown extinction definatly not as great but still good. Many fans consider Countdown to extinction as Megadeth`s black album, similiar riffs,a safer album comparisons are made but a Megadeth album is still a Megadeth album.Anyway the Black album is not the greatest but it aint the worst right?

REWIEW:Some songs are memorable like `skin o my theeth` but especially `Symphony of destruction`wich is a fan favorite. The songs are dark enough like `architecture of agression`and can be appealing to fans. The album has some George Bush quotes(dark enough in my opinion haha!).Dave Mustaine plays safe with this album it doesnt have extreme songs like `Holly wars...` or solos as good as Rust in peace its the best album but worth it.

Song like Symphony of destruction have slower rythyms and less impressive solos but they are good too. This album is definetly a response to Metalica`s Black album.Megadeth is pretty much one of the only bands to have sucesfull albums in the 90`s Countdown to extinction aint their best album but their best rating on charts wich is number 2.

OVERRAL:I would recomend it but not as the first Megadeth album to buy for that either buy `peace sells..``rust in peace`or even `So far,So good,So what?` but not this one even if its good.

5 out of 5 stars Very good speed album.......2006-04-23

In fact Dave Mustaine is enough as a comment. This album is really good.Symphony Of Destruction is a killer,Skin O' My Teeth,Foreclosure Of A Dream,Psychotron, Countdown To Extinction,Sweating Bullets are wonderful.I also like the other songs. This is definitely an album that you'll love.
