Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Incredible CD.......2007-02-10

I was lucky enough to catch these guys two nights, two shows, opening for MuDvAnYe in 2005. Now I will admit, I wasn't the hugest fan until I was able to see them live, so much f***ing energy, it was incredible. Am now a very devoted fan. Also check out anything that Trivium puts out, they played the same two shows, awesome time!!!

5 out of 5 stars good stuff.......2007-02-06

i only bought this because 'the light that blinds' is on guitar hero, but i was very impressed with the whole cd.

1 out of 5 stars Just plain annoying.......2006-12-21

Well, I do like Jason Bittner as a drummer, but the band as such is just annoying. The vocalist is ultra annoying, especially the normal singing bits (as opposed to death style singing). He has the most panziest singing voice and style I have heard in a long time. Its like some school kids trying to sing along with a metal band. Rest of the band is actually pretty tight, but bittner never lets loose like lombardo in Slayer or adler in LOG. He limits himself to simplistic beats and fixed double bass patterns. The songs as such arent all that memorable, really, a band full of musicians are no good when they write songs which need good vocals and have bad vocals. Think they would be much better of with some sort of metal instrumental stuff. Either that or they should take some inspiration from bands like Opeth or Dream theater and add some complexity to their music to keep it interesting. I really had high hopes for this band, and I really wanted to like them especially after seeing bittner play in MDF 2005. But sadly, they dont live up to my expectations.

5 out of 5 stars The Resurgence of Metal.......2006-11-03

This album has lifted the bar for all other metal bands to aspire to. As a person in his late twenties, I have been waiting for the return of the glory days of metal when blast beats and guitar solos ruled. This album brings both to the forefront. Shadows Fall are indeed a band of talented musicians and every song on this album demonstrates this fact. Since buying this CD I have not been able to stop listening to it, so do yourself a favour and get a copy.

5 out of 5 stars Much Better Than The Art of Balance.......2006-09-05

I really like The War Within. I wanted to get some Shadows Fall music and got The Art Of Balance too. Well, I put The Art Of Balance CD in a different place than where I put my favorite CDs. I don't really plan on listening to it again. I might sell it or give it away. I liked the Pink Floyd cover (Welcome to the Machine) on TAOB, but The War Within was more of what I was looking for. Powerful drumming, aggressive vocals, and heavy guitars. There is good innovation here too. None of it sounds copied. So listen to the samples. If you like the samples you will like this album.
