Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Switchblades Of Love sets a precedent for Steve Young........1999-05-21

It's a long way from "Seven Bridges Road"(a song written by Steve Young and an 80's hit for the Eagles) and "Silverlake" one of the cuts on 'Switchblades of Love'. But Steve Young has traveled that long winding road. Two other critically acclaimed albums by Steve Young, 'Renegade Picker' and 'No Place To Fall' were forerunners of the progressive/alternative/rock/country movement emerging out of Nashville in the 70's.. 'Switchblades of Love' seems to move away from earlier "interpretations" of songs by Steve with deeper, more moving, mellowed cuts such as "Love Song" and "My Love", Capturing the true soul and visions of this totally captivating singer/songwriter. An "inner view" of a "mystical poet", and his music. "Going Back To California" will make you want to go back..even though you've never been.

"Yes I've Loved You, I've Loved You Dixieland I Wonder Why You Never Gave Me A Helping Hand Cause I've Loved You, I've Loved You Dixieland" (from Alabama Highway by Steve Young)

This line from 'Alabama Highway', written and performed by Steve, makes one wonder,"where did we go wrong?" As always a typically strong effort from Steve, "Switchblades of Love" leaves the listener wanting more from this hauntingly talented artist and hoping it won't be a long wait.
