Sharp and gettin' sharper.......1999-12-29

I feel that this is a nice progression from the "Everybody Wants" singles. "Whatever Gets You True" is a excellent tune and the extra tracks are nice, especially "Cold As Ice" which is a live track back by his band. "Downtown," the third track, is on Amen (so be it). All three songs are diverse enough that you won't get tired of it after listening to it awhile. Paddy Casey keeps you guessing from song to song, single to single. . .I suspect he'll keep us guessing from album to album when the time comes. . . I can't say enough: BUY THESE CDs. . .

Casey is amazing. I first saw him open for Ani DiFranco in Dublin, then two more times on his own. Onstage he's modest, but totally captivating - just Paddy and a guitar, with a deceptively simple songwriting style that brings to mind anyone from David Gray and John Lennon to Bob Marley. This was my probably my favorite of his songs, and while the studio version -- a little souped-up and rockier than the acoustic -- took a few spins to grow on me, it seems to get better with time. A fresh new voice, and definitely a listen.
