Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Williams-the best of our generation!.......2007-01-24

This is simply a gorgeous album. It is full of old classics arranged and played so beautifully, you just cannot stop listening. Mason Williams is a genius.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful, elegant music of the past.......2005-02-13

The CD contains a fine blend of old songs, many from the 19th and early 20th century, with "rivers" being the central theme throughout. I did not realize how talented and versatile Mason Williams is in song production, until I listened to the various complex and soft-sounding arrangements he managed to contrive for each song. From the spiritual motif to the folk sound, whether instrumental or voice, Mason Williams has produced one of my favorite evening-relaxing blend of sounds, and indeed the best of all albums he has produced.

3 out of 5 stars The Best is Good; The rest . . ........2000-10-21

I bought this CD because I fell in love with this beautiful rendition of Shenandoah. However, this album was just too eclectic for my taste, in terms of musical styles. It is still quite worth owning, however.

5 out of 5 stars Great Music.......2000-08-03

The ever eclectic and talented Mason Williams creates music dedicated to rivers.....sort of a history of American rivers in song; you won't be sorry you purchased this cd---I have owned it on cassette for 10 years and still listen to it regularly. Thanks Mason.

5 out of 5 stars Mason Always Pleases.......2000-07-01

I have all of Mason Williams' records (no, not CDs, records) and his book, "Laughing Camera". I've been waiting for all his former music to come out on CD, so I'm happy to find this one. It's a typical Mason WIlliams album: variety, sensitivity, and always that wonderfully controlled voice; sound that flows rather than being forced. Seldom do you find such quality, and only Nat King Cole and Karen Carpenter have deserved that acclaim from me. Oh yes, I forgot to say that he's the best guitarist in the world. Sure, I'm sold on all that Mason Williams has done, but this is my spot to say so!
