Customer Reviews:
Classic Dubs.......2003-12-02
This is the Dubliners' second album, recorded at Cecil Sharp House in December 1964, and the only one of the group's early albums not to feature Luke Kelly. Kelly had temporarily left the group that year, and in his place had come Bobby Lynch on vocals and guitar; along with him, John Sheahan (pennywhistle, mandolin, fiddle, bouzouki) joined and has remained ever since. Some really great live performances--Lynch gives his heavily-accented lead vocals on "One Morning in March" (with a bit of hilarity during one verse) and "The Patriot Game," and Ronnie Drew ably proves the group's very Irish sense of humour in his performance of "The Twang Man" ("twang" refers to a type of rather gooey toffee). Ciaran Bourke even gets a chance to shine on "Air: Fa La La Lo" and "Peggy Lettermore" (perhaps the only pub tune in Irish). Definitely recommended.
