Best nonlive live recording ever.......2004-01-12

`Solo' is just Danny and a guitar, exactly like you would hear him if you caught a live performance. I've seen many of his live shows over the years and this is the closest you can get to a live album without it being a live album. About the only thing he doesn't do is talk to you between the songs. This is an excellent collection of songs once again showcasing his vast knowledge of music and his incredible talent. The originals, `She's Still In Paris', `Old Friend', `Tony, Johnny, Jimmy, and Me', and a rerecorded `Friendly Soul', have all become fan favorites. The mix of American folk and Irish folk expose some of the depth of his musical roots as well as the range of his voice and skill with a guitar. A must have for every fan and, after one listen, you will be a fan.

What A Collection!.......2003-04-13

Quinn's repertoire ranges from the best of Irish folk music to songs he has written with a few unexpected titles thrown in. It is hard to choose among these -- but 'The Dutchman' is one of the most poignant songs ever, and Danny does it justice. 'She's Still In Paris' -- well, the yearning expressed here is intense amd very personal -- I think Danny knows women very well. Tommy Makem's 'Four Green Fields' is well served by Quinn. And I can't imagine you have heard 'The City of New Orleans' sung any better than this! This is a good showcase for Quinn's talents and you will do well to give a listen.
