Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars I stayed sober so I could listen........2001-01-02

Scott Kirby is one of my boss's best friends. I had heard of him for years but had never heard him. When I finally did see him perform this past summer, I bought everything he has ever recorded. It was money well spent. As a Parrothead, I'm normally drunk when I listen to this type of music. I stayed sober. Thus, I learned what would happen to Bob Villa if Scott saw him at Sears(This Old House). Scott may never be famous, but he should be.

4 out of 5 stars We dont eat at the Buffet.......2000-06-15

This is a great fun Scott Kirby CD. He is parasitical in his theft of great talent from the Coral Reefer Band, who willingly join him in backing the kind of songs that old 'parrot breath' ought to be singing. Scott is a reformed political hack from NH, who has perfected strumming wicked statements into engaging and entertaining melodies. Should you be lucky enough to stumble onto his live gig at the Pier House beach in Key West, you'll likely hear him refuse to play that insidious pop smear "Margaritaville' by allowing as how there is a local ordinance against it.

The biggest trouble with Scott is that a lot of his best music is lost. You Amazonians can't get his latest CD - 'Walkin' on Thin Ice', and we are all less better off in that his best early tunes like "Christmas in Key West' are gone.

5 out of 5 stars Great CD/Great Artist.......2000-01-20

I have had the pleasure of meeting Scott Kirby and hearing him perform live. He is a very talented individual with a fun loving easy going style. This CD is fabulous. Very fun and up-beat. If you like Buffett you'll like Scott Kirby. This is a must own CD.

4 out of 5 stars Wonderful finger-picking guitar and thoughtful lyrics.......1999-02-11

If you like songs that tell a story or convey a real human emotion, you will enjoy listening to this CD. Kirby's lyrics combines the homespun sensibility of his native New England with the laid-back attitude of his current Key West home. This is an album for the guitar enthusiast who loves fingerpicking and memorable melodies. In particular, check out Smallest Of Islands and Rosewood & Cedar. Perfect music for sitting on the porch with a mojito, watching the sun set.

5 out of 5 stars Quintessesntial Beach Folk.......1999-02-11

Scott Kirby is a classic sort of Key West fellow. You know, the kind of guy who once led the "respectable" life up north, but traded it in for shorts and flip-flops and a whole lot less stress. This CD is a beautiful escape mentally and a joy to behold musically. Scott is a brilliant lyricist and acoustic guitar player, and is a blast to see live as well. This is a must-own for any fan of Buffett-style escapism and good quality songwriting.
