Customer Reviews:
He sings from the heart..........2006-11-09
I've been a fan of Peter's for several years now. I've been lucky enough to have been friends with him, worked along side him and saw him perform in person a couple of times years gone by. His music makes one stop and think about life. I'd sort of forgotten how good his music is and how much his lyrics sort of challenge the listener to think more deeply about life. It's also peaceful music to listen to. After the lapse of a good length of time,I got this particular "tune" out last night and was reminded of these things. Yes, The Famous Test of Time continues to prove true its title true...
Every Song On This CD Is Excellent!.......2003-04-17
A modern day minstrel, a twenty-first century troubadour. This guy rocks the world! The sound is like the BeeGees by way of Cat Stevens. The message is deep like Bob Dylan but without the scowl and with a big dollop of Carl Jung thrown in. If you listen to Peter Demuth's wonderfully crafted songs you'll find yourself humming lyrics which are poetic, insightful and lift the spirit. His sign is definitely rising.
"Flashes of Brilliance".......2000-06-29
"The Famous Test of Time" by Peter Demuth was a pleasant surprise. Not however, because I expected anything less than exactly what I got. That being original music with a heart and soul of its own, created for the pure pleasure of creation, by a man whose soul has a clear need for the process of musical expression. Each offering of this exceptional release leaves you with the distinct impression that what you are hearing are the efforts of a man who creates music because he HAS to create music.
But this, incredible as it is, was not the surprising part at all. As a fan of Peter Demuth's for nearly five years, I have come to expect exactly that from him. In fact, I would have been disappointed had he offered anything less. For me, the surprise in "...Famous Test..." which is Demuth's fourth full length solo release, is the new found maturity and elegance that was not readily apparent in his previous releases. I do not believe this reflects necessarily a new maturity in song writing, as Demuth's songs have always expressed this artist's exhuberance for life and hunger for experience. I think this maturity symbolizes a man who has finally become comfortable with (if not mastered) the second crucial aspect of creating exceptional music: the art of production and recording.
While his earlier releases, all excellent in their own right, carried with them a feeling of hesitation or trepidation, Peter is now displaying a true peace with the recording process that allows him to wondefully express the messages within him. Philosophy, art, love, life and the human experience are all topics transmitted through the venue of Demuth's truly unique and original talent. Fans of rock icons such as The Beatles and The Eagles, and folk legends like Jim Croce and James Taylor as well as those who are simply fans of "good original music" will all find something to here to quench their musical thirsts.
I believe that in the heart of every true artist there is at least one masterpiece beyond compare. And while "The famous Test of Time" may not yet represent Peter Demuth's masterpiece, he is certainly showing us moments of his brilliance and shades of things that are surely to come.
Recalls some great memories of when music was music.......2000-05-20
Sounds like a refreshing blend of meditative Leonard Cohen and sweet and lively Neil Young with the urgency of Bob Dylan. The singer's heart shows through all of it in a very refreshing way.
This Man's a Genius!.......2000-05-15
The Famous Test of Time is both thought-provoking and refreshing! These original lyrics are poetic, philisophical and profound. My belief is, perhaps, not since the Beatles has such a musical force ventured forth. John Lennon (and the other guys) would have been proud to have "jammed" with this guy!
