5 out of 5 stars UNBELIEVABLE.......2006-01-27

I know alfred, i sat in on a practice session with him and my guitar teacher because they were doing a gig together. he's an absolute inspiration. his musical talents know no bounds. i am inspired and comepletely taken aback by his genius. everyone should buy this cd and listen to him because he's the voice and the talent of the future.

4 out of 5 stars Engrossing new acoustic sound..........2005-07-23

Stumbled on AJB through an NPR segment, they have the
sweeping, instrumental rock sound of a band like
Collective Soul paired with a light lyrical style akin
to Five for Fighting. It's a potent and refreshing new
chemistry that ought to take off once they achieve
more exposure. What I find most interesting is Alfred's command of voice: he often lowers it to an gentle whisper right when you expect it to grow louder (at an exclamation for example), lending an unexpectedly intimate feel to the record. The delicate sound of the cello enhances the effect. 'Better Days', 'Carry You Up', 'Regina' and 'For Eloise' really carry this album because of the obvious emotion behind them. The rest of the songs are agreeable, if unremarkable. These guys have nowhere to go but up!

5 out of 5 stars Wow!.......2005-03-13

What a great listening experience: a fresh new sound that defies categorization yet comes across right at home. Superb musicianship, gifted and creative arrangements, resonant heart-felt vocals singing absorbing lyrics and melodies that we all can relate to..... this project has it all. I honestly believe we'll hear some of these songs in a feature film someday. This music has a way of exquisitely weaving together generations, the old and the young; and genres, classical and folk, into a passionate harmony of the heart.
