Customer Reviews:
Settling the Confusion on West of Home.......2002-10-14
I have read some reviews of the West of Home CD however, since I own all the CDs I want to clear up the confusion that these reviews may cause. The CD containing the tracks "Couldn't have come at a better time" and "Back Home in Derry." is actually the Live CD entitled "Bringing Down the House," which, does not yet appear to be available on Amazon.com. "Bringing Down the House" is Celtic music kicked up a few notches with the guitar stylings of John Allan added to this already amazing group. George Cavanaugh and John Allan balance each other perfectly while also harmonizing with music the beautiful voices of the Browne Sisters. The CD also includes some previously recorded songs like Queen of Argyll but with a rockin' new twist. If you like your Celtic music with attitude this is the CD for you.
West of Home Should Sail into Your Home.......2002-10-09
"West of Home" was one of the first Browne Sisters CDs I ever bought. I adore it and listen to it at least once a week if not more. The song "Day of the Clipper" is a great sailing song but also a great mother daughter song containing the line "So all ya lovin' mothers keep your eyes upon your daughters." The CD also contains as do all Browne Sisters CDs a few songs in Gaelic but don't be frightened. You don't have to understand the lyrincs to understand the great rhythms of the music. This is a very upbeat CD and I love it.
The Browne Sisters.......2002-09-12
I have all the Browne Sisters' CDs and this one is my favorite. This is the next best thing to getting to see them perform live. They are not typical folk singers - they are actually good! My two favorite tracks are "Couldn't Have Come at a Better Time" and "Back Home in Derry". This is a great CD!
Really great harmony.......2002-09-10
I can't say enough about this group! The harmonies and arrangments are so unique. I love them. I think if you like celtic music you will be impressed.
