Customer Reviews:
best bit.......2003-06-03
A great single ! I was totally suprised !
The song itself is great - wonderfully produced, lazy in a good way, nice instrumentation, melancholy without being depressing,...
The b side, "Beautiful World" is very nice - some great beats, a very trip hop feeling. I would've put this one on the record, but maybe Beth doesn't want to be viewed as a trip hop artist. Doesn't matter - this is a song every fan should hear.
Then the Two Lone Swordsmen remix of "Anywhere" - fabulous ! I've always been interested in their work, and this has made me even more fascinated. The remix is kinda electro like, the taste and fashion of the month, but they do it just so great ! Sensual and very danceable, without being boring or too much in your face or sounding too forced, like some of the stuff from the recent 'electroclash'. I'd die to hear this song in a club
And the video is indeed great - a very film noir feeling with some western atmosphere thrown in
Anywhere, Anytime, Anyhow!.......2002-11-17
I waited in anticipation the arrival of this new CD at my door. I sort of knew what to expect. The album version of "Anywhere", sort of a calypso type tune ala Sade. I also knew that there would be a remix of the same tune by Two Lone Swordsmen. Also a song I'd never heard before entitled "Beautiful World". But mostly I wanted to see the new Beth video that came with this CD. I did not know in what format this video would be so I put the CD in my DVD player and sat back with my ears on.I was pleased to hear the music but was shut out about the vid. I then stuck the disk into my computer and was prompted to upgrade my Quicktime Media Player. After a few minutes of software update I was rewarded with one of the most awesome videos I've ever seen! The video features the Swordsman version of "Anywhere" and centers around a red dress, a New Mexico highway, and a totally hot and sexy Beth Orton.Oh, and also that wonderful voice of hers that is ever present. Beth Orton keeps topping herself with everthing that she comes out with next, and certainly does not disappoint here. Definitely worth the wait and worth the price of admission. I'm hooked.
