Customer Reviews:
Got Phranc?.......2000-06-03
This is the most balanced Phranc CD I have listened to yet. She's truly grown as an artist, discarding her fun-loving happy covers for more of her own (and sometimes very personal) lyrics. The album starts out with "Twirly," a truly carefree, fun song - "She's feeling twirly/Got a new girly/Who's got a keychain as big as a house" ! Then Phranc tells the tale of "The Handsome Cabin Boy" who becomes pregnant while sailing the high seas. "Ozzie and Harriet" is a beautiful acoustic song about the disappearance of one-on-one relationships - "I am not a swinger/I'll put on a v-neck sweater/But that's as far as I will go/'Cause one-on-one is all I know." The last track, "Tzena, Tzena," is a upbeat song that Phranc sings in yiddish. "Yer the One" is the perfect crush song to request for someone. The most poignant song on the CD though is titled "Gary" after Phranc's own brother, who was murdered. This CD is great. Buy it. The cover includes lyrics.
This Phranc phanatic says stay phar away phrom this one!.......1999-01-06
I'm a long time fan of Phranc, and was eagerly anticipating this new c.d. But this one is nasty! The songs sound as though they were being composed as she was singing them. Her voice sounds weak and quivery. The songs don't have the pleasant, catchy, sing-a-long quality of her early works. Save your money and check out her previous c.d.s I doubt I'll listen to (suffer through) this one again.
