Really nice........2003-07-23

I'm really into folk music in general, and this CD is like a mix of classic folk and jazz. It has a nice smooth country twist to it too that I like, too. And being from Gloucester, I can relate to the music's background. A bit expensive, but definitely worth it I think.

More than I expected..........2003-07-23

I picked this album up because I heard good things about Allen Estes, but found that the album is more than just Mr. Estes' latest effort to break through. Through unusually good lyrics, the songs tell great stories of the community in Cape Ann, MA which most people know as the basis of the movie "Perfect Storm". While the album is rough around the edges, it opened my eyes to a world I did not know that much about. I have since read a few books on the subject and am really in awe over the bravery of the citizens of this small New England town. The music is mix of country, rock, blues, and tasteful ballads played by a great back up band and Estes at his best. I doubt you can find many albums with such a worthy purpose and message.
