Chilly & Mellow Winds.......2007-01-07

This is a great John Stewart collection, and I'm glad I found it on Amazon. I started listenting to John Stewart forty years ago in San Francisco (with the KT)and enjoy all he has shared with us over the years.

God, I love this album.......2004-11-04

I cannot express how much I love this album. I'm a young fan and only became aware of John's music a few years ago. I still don't have all of his albums. I'm more a fan of John's late 70's and early 80s albums (Bombs Away Dream Babies, Blondes, Wires From the Bunker) so maybe that's why I love this album so much. If anything, I love the lyrics the most. They're happy, sad, regretful, honest, and hopeful - everything that reaches deep down into my heart and soul. Chilly Winds also contains "Revenge of the Budgie" John's collaboration with fellow Kingston Trio mate, Nick Reynolds. Buddy Won't You Roll is great and probably the most lively on the album. My personal faves are 'Chilly Winds' and 'Dreamers on the Rise' is probably one of my all time favorite songs. Wonderful heartfelt lyrics. John's buddy Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac also makes a few appearances...most notably on "Hiding in the Shadows" where John and Lindsey both came up with a great little guitar melody that Lindsey has used in many of his songs as well. Overall, one of my favorite albums of all time. If you like great lyrics and great melodies then you will love this album.

enjoyable but don't expect the originals.......1999-07-05

the songs seem to be a bit more personal,less outgoing than what you would expect from a member of the "trio" but don't let that stop you from enjoying some really good and different renditions of some the songs we remember so well. for those of you that remember "buddy won't you get on down the line",listen to "buddy won't you roll" .if this song doesn't get your feet moving then check your pulse.john,nick reynolds(remember nick ?not to mention lindsay buckingham and gary busey singing backup makes this the most memorable song on the album.regardless of my review,listen and enjoy.JOHN STEWART IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE ONE OF THE MOST HONEST AND HEART FELT SINGERS/WRITERS OF OUR GENERATION.thank you john and thank you buffy.

Stewart's Kingston Trio contributions brought into the 90's........1998-10-21

From the beginning, as Stewart teases us with the phrase, "return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear", one would expect to hear it as it might have been done. Just the opposite happens, however, as John Stewart takes some of those classics such as "The New Frontier", "Road to Freedom", and the title song "Chilly Winds" to a new level. Stewart's old fans should love this one, and those old Kingston Trio fans should listen for Kingston Trio original Nick Reynolds on some remarkable duets. New fans should recognize however that these are not Kingston Trio songs-- they are clearly Stewart tunes as he meant them to be for his fans as he and they have matured, and the listener should appreciate the vintage and the flavor that Stewart has carefully blended into a new package, but with a "Same Old Heart", his ending cut of this very remarkable album.
