Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2000-02-16

I'm not very qualified to review the indepth aspects of this CD, nor am I able to compare it with others of it's genre, but suffice to say that it is very much worth purchasing. I've had the CD for a few years now, and I keep coming back to it again and again. Slip it in the player on a dark, late night as you drive the long lonely highways, or darken the house, lay on some pillows and turn it on when the kids are asleep. It's music that speaks to your soul!

5 out of 5 stars I?d recommend it to anyone that enjoys acoustic music........1998-09-15

I first heard of Dana Robinson about 4 years ago through his participation on a compilation CD called "Shelter." His contribution, "Empty Page / Start Again," immediately captivated me. My efforts to find more by Dana were futile until I was able to see him play at a small coffeehouse not far from where I live. I was able to meet Dana there and bought "Elemental Lullabye" from him that night. Produced by Dana and Pete Sutherland, "Elemental Lullabye" is well crafted and enjoyable. Dana's voice has a quivering, raspy quality that reminds me of a young Jonathan Edwards with a little Cat Stevens thrown in. Dana is a masterful guitar player. He also plays banjo and mandolin on this CD. He is joined on eight of the eleven tracks by a very competent group of musicians, including Pete Sutherland on fiddle and Keyboards, Tom McClung on piano, Brooks Williams on slide guitar, Mitch Barron on bass, Lee Blackwell on Drums, Stuart Paton on percussion. Patti Casey adds some haunting harmonies to 3 tracks; most notably on the previously mentioned "Empty Page / Start Again." She also plays pennywhistle on "Dancing with Seneca." The rest is just Dana on one or more instruments. I'd recommend it to anyone that enjoys acoustic music.
