Enter the Dragons!.......2000-11-29
I saw this band a long time ago at a music festival in Northern Ontario and not only did they take me by storm, they took the whole festival by storm. When they fired up the show they did not let up for any of the 45 minutes they were up there, and with 3 guitar players, 3 lead vocalists, an awesome bass/drums back up, WOW! What a show. Now here they are with a CD and I can tell you those opening 6 tracks are just like they played them live, acoustic guitars turned wide open and vocal harmonies that sound like they were made in Woodland heaven. When they're mellow in tunes like Nagagamasis, Coming Home Winter Sky, or Dreamcatcher, there is a rumbling somewhere down below in the sound of that many guitars, whispering voices, and bass/drums, that says: Hear me. See me. Swim with me. Fly with me. With a lead female vocalist, and 2 lead male vocalists, and 4 songwriters, there is no shortage of variety. This is an awesome rock and roll record!
No rest for the wicked!!!.......2000-09-27
I've had the chance to examine this album from every which angle. They take you from a place of comfort and then make you raise your fist, all for support of the Original people of this continent. The driving force behind the music is the powerful lyrics which can pull at our heart strings while educating everyone about contemporary Native issues. They show everyone that Native people are more than a drum surrounded by a group of "chanting indians". The songs reflect their various influences from blues, folk, and acoustical styles while maintaining a strong driving beat, the heartbeat of Mother Earth. This album has left me hungering for their next album, "Hollywood Indian". Believe me, I was not disappointed. Who knows what will be next? I can guarantee that I will not hesitate in purchasing their next release. If you get the chance to see them live, don't miss it! Hope to see you there.
