Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars a top work.......2007-01-03

Originally released in 2003 and apparently available here only recently, this is a top work by Mr. Tilston. Amazingly, it was the number one CD of that year on leading folk station WUMB in Massachusetts--amazingly, because at that point it had only been available through Tilston's website. This is first rate "adult" entertainment--"adult," because it takes someone with some experience both in music and in life in general to fully appreciate it. Tilston is no great vocalist, but his singing is good enough to complement, usually in small combo settings, a great talent as a tunesmith, sensitive lyricist, and acoustic guitarist--and this is only to evaluate him on the basis of his works prior to this one. "Such and Such" represents further evolution on his part in the realm of arrangement (who would have thought of combining French horn and acoustic guitar, as he does here to great effect on one cut) and story-telling ("Mirror Dance" is a brilliant attempt to come to grips with aging, and "The Sniper's Tale" is gruesome, yet aware). "Rare Thing," "West End Samba," and the title cut are wonderfully positive songs with immediately engaging tunes.

In short, this one is a real winner. Anyone whose musical tastes reside somewhere in the vicinity of contemporary folk should take notice!
