5 out of 5 stars memory lane review.......2004-01-09

This is the bulk of a letter that I e-mailed to Jasmine.

Where to start...I lived in St. Louis from 1981 - 1986 in my early twenties. It was my first time away from home and a very happy and important time in my life. There are many things I miss about St. Louis; friends, Ted Drewes, Culpeppers, The Fox Theatre, the central west end, Forest Park and Jasmine to name a few. When I reminisce about the good ole days, one memory that is constant is the wonderful music experience. I remember hearing you for the first time and being hooked. Me and my friends would try to see you as much as we could and we were never disappointed.

I just finished listening to the 2 cd set you just released and I can't begin to tell you how much joy it has brought. It was just so good to hear you again. I have your music on 2 lp's but my lps' are in a box in storage thanks to the CD age.

But it was fate that I now own this CD set. I have an ipod and I was downloading music a couple of weeks ago. I ran into the "Gimme a pigfoot" song by Bessie Smith and downloaded it. While it is a great recording, I kept remembering your great rendition. After that I went on to Amazon.com and did a search on your name. I truly wasn't expecting to get any hits, but lo and behold there it was.

As I listened, I tried to see how much my musical taste had changed. I was glad that it hasn't changed much, I still enjoy true talent. The rich harmonies and great arrangements are still wonderful to experience today. Of course, they will never substitute a live performance but it will have to do.

Thank you so much for the live version at Sheldon hall for two reasons. The first...I was there for that performance...yahoo!!! Second, one of my favorite selections was the Leader of the Pack/Walk on By number. I've always told others what great fun it was to hear; and to see Michele's theatrical antics that went along with it.

Thank you again, you made this man exceptionally happy.
