Customer Reviews:
Almost perfect - if you took away the talk.......2000-08-08
The Chad Mitchell Trio was one of the finer folk groups in the late 50s/early 60s. They had a fine sense of style, humor, political perspective (whether you agreed or not!) and marvelous voices. While the voices do show their age here, they are still well worth hearing. The thing that bored me to tears was the endless intro John Denver gave to his song. I agree with his politics on creating a world peace, but the point is driven home in a way the Trio never did - too much talk and not enough music action. As for the rest of the album? Well worth the investment especially for Ronnie's Boys. I have go figure out some lyrics now for George's Boys!!!
Waiting for Part 3.......2000-07-24
Like reviewer B. Stern, I've listened to the CMT for decades. Unlike him, I think they still sound great. The harmonies and liberal satire are still there. "Barry's Boys" is updated to "Ronnie's Boys". Unlike their first reunion album, this one contains excellent new material in the "Nicaragua Song" and "Let Us Begin". The price of doing topical material, however, is that it gets dated rather quickly. Thus, this album is best for those of us who remember our recent history. As the only source of post-60's CMT material, this is a must for fans.
A Fun CD, but the Trio Sounds Old.......1999-12-28
Whether you agreed with their politically charged lyrics or not, the Chad Mitchell Trio was absolutely the best sounding folk group of all time. Their rich harmonies could not be beat. Unfortunately, time has not been kind to the once beautiful voices of Chad Mitchell and Joe Frazier. Their voices sound weak, thin and very tired. Joe and Chad can hardly carry their parts anymore, and often times sound like they've run out of breath. Despite all of that, the trio still sounds pretty good when they sing together in harmony, and the songs are still fun to listen to and sing along with. If you don't expect to hear the Trio's once perfect harmonies and beautiful voices, but are looking for an enjoyable trip down memory lane, this is a great CD.
