Customer Reviews:
Everything familiar, everything new..........2006-08-25
This is a wonderful CD, in a similar musical genre as Deb Talan or Antje Duvekot or Lori McKenna.
I originally bought the CD for "Leonids", but I found later that virtually every song could became my favorite song depending on the time of day, whether I was driving, whether I was working. It's a bit like a many-faceted jewel, reflecting not only the surroundings but a little of oneself.
Friend of a friend.......2005-07-08
I visited Simon's Rock College of Bard in Great Barrington, Mass a few years ago. I was introduced to Meg's first CD by a friend who had previously dated Meg's then boyfriend...confusing I know! Just a little tidbit...anyway..I LOVED IT! I have had the album since '96 and told a lot of people about it. I just randomly decided to look her up and I am glad to see her gaining success. I haven't heard the new ones yet, but if they are anything like the first one I know they will be great!!! Meg's music is poetry at its greatest! It has helped me through a few hard times...I even used "Song to Ophelia" for a project back in high school. Keep it up Meg!!! I hope to get the new albums soon!!!
What a terrific album!.......2005-03-09
Having the good fortune to see Meg Hutchinson in concert, I was inspired to purchase "The Crossing" and proceeded to listen to it endlessly. I'm certain that Meg will become very well known. She writes such beautiful songs, and has an engaging voice. The gutwrenching song "Sum of This" always inspires me to sing along (to the dismay of others) with deep, heartfelt emotion. And the title song, "The Crossing", is clever and fun, but also wrapt with emotion. Meg is even more engaging in concert. I do recommend giving this CD a listen, and I hope that Amazon will stock her other albums soon!
Incredible Indie folk woman artist with a fairy-like voice.......2004-08-24
Meg has been haunting the metro stations and indie cafes like Club Passim in Cambridge, MA for years. Her woodsy and fairy-like voice and powerful, introspective lyrics are even more amazing this time around due to a solid backup band. Meg's lyrics make you laugh, cry, and puts you right at ease. When I hear her song, Coming Up, I feel ready to take on the day. This is surely my new favorite CD. She reminds me of Alyson Kraus, Natalie Merchant, Gillian Welsh, and Abra Moore. Get this CD and support an amazing artist of her generation!
