Brothers Four Greatest.......2006-09-01

This is a nice quiet album, definitely easy listening. It would be nice to have a few songs that are a little snappy to intermingle with the mellow ones. Overall, a nice album.

I like about the music of "The brothers four", I`m 58 years, that`s kind of music I've been listening about 25-30 years ago, living in a small town in Finland I didn`t found that kind of CD here, so I`m satisfied to get it. Thank you.

Missing their best song.......2006-08-06

How can anyone give this a 5 star rating when it is missing their greatest song, "Try to Remember"?

This Brothers Four compilation came out in the early 60's, so it reflects what some people thought of as their best work in those days. You might not find every song you love (for that, I'd recommend the Japanese release of Greatest Hits [a bit pricey but contains 22 superb tracks], or if you can get your hands on 36 All-Time Folk Favorites, that's even better), but all of the songs on this CD are worth every dime. Let me briefly mention some of them. Eddystone Light is remarkable - the lyrics are wonderfully weird, and The Brothers Four handle them intelligently, as always. Frogg No. 1 is incredibly cute and funny, and Nine Pound Hammer combines some mean dark blues with black humor (it's always bracing to hear about demises and tombstones in triumphant major!). My Tani is bound to leave many listeners speechless - and also proves what a long way beautiful voices can go.
