Good for its purpose.......2006-05-26

It's a great "hop on the elliptical trainer and check out" disc. Nicely paced and a good mix of music that was current when it came out. I still enjoy this on occaision, years later.

Step to this...good pace.......2006-02-27

I used to do a lot of step aerobics. Now in my 50's, my knees are kinda wonky, but my favorite heart workout is still free-form mixed-impact, dance-y step, performed for about an hour. This CD has been a good fall-back-to selection for years. I rediscover it and play the heck out of it for a month or two before I cycle it out, but I always go back to it. The pace slides up and down very slightly, which revs my adrenal jets a lot.

I do a lot of types of workouts, and my other favorite aerobic music includes rock like Limp Biskit, Midnight Oil and Big Country, Latin like Chucho Valdez and Tito Puentes, rap, reggaeton like Don Omar, and of course dance music like Johnny Vicious Ultra Dance 01. This CD is right there, though. Very blood-pumping.

Definitely a "greatest hits" collection of dance mixes from the day, this one is filled with club hits and cheesy commercial radio hits. The real tragedy here is that, several of these songs, which are near impossible to find on CD, are all very short on this disc. Track times:

I bought this cd soon after it came out and I walk to it. Although it gets a little old, I haven't found another workout cd that maintains the beat to keep up my pace. I agree...marketing-wise, it would probably appeal to a certain section of demographics, but I like to walk to it.

Some Great Tracks..........2001-07-07

I understand the previous reviewer's concern about tracks he doesn't recognize, but that just means he didn't spend much time in clubs during this period (I did but I don't anymore!). I do agree that it's not too conducive to working out, but it's a great dance CD. The songs by Tori Amos, Full Intention, The Bucketheads, The Braxtons, Waterlillies and Ruffneck all placed high on the Billboard Dance Chart, most going to #1. The Fun Factory, Jimmy Somerville and Le Click tracks were all club staples then, too. If you love mid-'90's era dance music, you'll love this.
