Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars best album put out by mephisto walz.......2006-05-02

this album is the best album put out by mephisto. I like to refer to this music as ambient goth. Cause thats what it is very ambient. The guitars have alot of reverb sounds almost an echo coming out very melow and deep. Great album worth every penny. If you don't have it buy it.

5 out of 5 stars Mystery, Longing, Maniacal Laughter, and Daydreaming.......2005-02-16

Although most of the people I know who say they love goth music have never heard it, this album is to me the ideal of goth. It is much less cheesy than a lot of goth stuff that tries too hard.
Some songs are ethereal and atmospheric, others more driven by beats and guitars. the lead singer has a haunting voice, usually sounding sad and introspective, but a little bit menacing at time too (just enough). I can listen to this album on repeat which is more than i can say for most albums.

4 out of 5 stars A wee bit flawed, but . . ........2004-08-18

There's one song on this album I've been looking for forever, and it's "Aegis." I have other Mephisto Walz stuff on compilations, but I never made the voice connection.
I have to say though, having listened to the entire album for a while now, that terra- Regina is very good. It took a few listens, but it's now one of my faves.
For some reason there seems to be two versions of this release. Make sure you're getting the first and complete release that has "Aegis," and not the one that lists "Tangia- Low." I think that's another release entirely.
Very good stuff.

4 out of 5 stars Absolutely haunting..........2000-08-30

It isn't often that I stumble upon an album every track of which I enjoy, but "Terra Regina" is just that. A spectacular melding of the guitar-driven variety of gothic rock and the swirling dreaminess of the ethereal genre, there's something on this album to appeal to anyone who fancies either style.

There are a number of strong tracks on this CD ("Protecteur" being my personal favorite) and nearly every song included here is mournful yet danceable. Even "Epilogue", the vocals of which are spoken rather than actually sung, is a powerful piece, without the pretentious quality so common to spoken-word works.
