One of the Greatest Club Divas of All Time!.......2003-11-17

Dear Amazonians,

For the first time yesterday, at the Gay Life Expo in New York City, I heard Joi Cardwell perform. Joi Cardwell is truly a spactacular performer, not only singing, but really putting her soul into her music in a way that few performers can do.

The incredible power of Joi's voice captivated the audience and set peoples feet tapping immediately. If you have not heard any of Joi Cardwell's music, I hightly recommend this album, as well as any of her other works. Joi Cardwell is truly a rare breed in the club music scene.

Cardwell has one of the most righteously soulful singing styles of any house music diva -- she knows how to stretch a phrase and extend a note far beyond the confines of the rational. She sings escape from confinement, and the rhythms that her producers lay out beneath her feet sound like they are actually responding to her singing, rather than just travelling a path impersonally parallel to hers. As the saying goes, sometime after 4 A.M.: "get your high heelz on and your handz in the air, girlfriend!"

Dance Diva.......2000-05-20

There aren't many talented singers that come our way via some magical dance cuts and Joi Cardwell is definitely a Dance Music Goddess. I have actually missed out on her album which included her You Got to Pray cut but was much blessed with the release of this double cd dance extravaganza. For the tracks, You Got To Pray and Jump for Joi alone, ur money's already got it's worth. Plus add up some funky playing of some great DJs and what you have are an almost endless number of tracks you could even muster to dance to. It's both sad and nice that she isn't considered as a mainstream artist. Sad because she HAS THE VOICE. Nice because only the priviledged few could actually enjoy her music (selfish me!). But thru this review, i could probably give some encouragement to people who enjoy dance music that she gives out dance music like no one else can and proof to this is this double cd. Buy it before you get a DELETED label under this title.
