4 out of 5 stars The Prayer You've Saved Has Been Answered.......2000-08-05

For all those who believe in New Wave as well as Jesus Christ, and have tried and given up on the Milquetoast-y offerings of most Christian music artists, the prayer Duran Duran asked you to save back in the '80s has been answered. Dave and Ron's music is what happens when you mix The Fab Five with Talk Talk, Depeche Mode, Howard Jones, The Human League, and Seal--a truly unique and appealing sound, with a tangible positive and inspiring message reminiscent of Talk Talk's and Howard Jones' if they had ever bothered to get specific. Dave's engagingly layered synthesized tunes are perfectly matched by Ron's strong, smooth, and rich vocal delivery, which he often self-harmonizes in a delightful, oh-so-Simon-Le-Bon manner (check out "Don't Let the Doubt," a personal favorite--raps and all--for a prime example of this). Other favorites include the pensive, chiming "Know What's Real"; the darkly marching "Move Forward" with its crunchy percussion and John-Taylor-esque dominant bass line; and the strong instrumental closer "Contact" (which opens with what sounds suspiciously like the "Star Trek" time portal, and is tied together with a Rush-like keyboard descent; I'd prefer a play-out of this to the spoken "Forever," which really does seem to last that long). This CD will add a new dimension to your music collection, as well as encourage you to foster positive dimensions in your life. I look forward to hearing more from this group.

4 out of 5 stars Broad Spectrum of Musical Styles.......2000-05-09

This album combines several musical styles with excellent results. All of the songs are unique, Divine Intervention has shown a wide variety of musical talent. The high energy title track begins a fantastic musical journey. Other personal favorites include the inspiring Ray of Hope and the instrumental jam Contact. Some of the songs include short raps that I could do without, but it is the only weak point on a very strong CD. Definitely worth a buy.
