Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars C'mon Now, it's just fun happy warm weather dancin' music.......2005-03-30

Sometimes you just need a happy song that you can hop around the house to. This one is it. It's unfortunate that the group broke up already. My story is...I bought a Total Gym, I wondered how I was going to get myself started, then I put on a couple versions of Mai Ai Hee that totalled 10 minutes, put them on a loop and voila, I have my workout program. I have sore muscles where I haven't had muscles for 20 years. These reviews should be on the main page and not the reviews that put the song down. Also, I'm a huge BSB fan and am going to their show tonight in DC, so to put them in the same category is fine, FUN HAPPY MUSIC!!! (Don't forget to listen to Despre Tine and De De Plang Chitarele)

1 out of 5 stars The most embarrassing (stupid) piece of garbage!.......2005-03-16

"Dragostea din tei" is perhaps the most embarrassing (stupid) piece of garbage Romania has ever exported! Who could ever think that would spread so widely?

A complete analysis on the cheesy song (including the correct lyrics with diacritics and the correct English translation) is at the Yahoo group "Learn-Romanian-Online"

5 out of 5 stars Horrible song, yes, but it has sentimental value.......2005-02-03

Ok, just like pretty much every other person who wrote a review of this single, I spent some time in Europe this summer. One of the first days I was there, I saw the video. "This must be a joke" I thought to myself. One week and a lot of convincing later, I realized it wasn't. Over the course of a month in Germany, I would guess I heard this song something like 10-15 times a day. Those crazy Germans couldn't get enough of it.
So, the only people who should really buy this are people like me who have fond memories of drinking liter after liter of beer to this song, or stupid people who would actually like this kind of music for what it is.

4 out of 5 stars What about the Romanians?.......2004-09-19

I just spent a month in Europe (two weeks in Germany and two in Romania) and while I was in Germany this song was number one. I heard this song about every five minutes on the radio or anywhere I went pretty much. Then when I went to Romania (where this band is from) I think I heard the song twice the whole time I was there. I asked some of the people I knew, and their responses were pretty much the same. "O-Zone is a very popular band but that song isn't" So there you have it. The Germans love it; the Romanians don't. I give it four stars, three for the fact that the beat is great and its a positive energizing song. The lyrics aren't that great except for comical purposes mainly. I did give it one extra star on sedimental value, because it will always remind of this crazy girl I left behind there.

2 out of 5 stars Love under the lime tree???.......2004-09-04

Yep, that's the title of the song in English. You probably didn't know that, did you...
Let me start off by saying I can't stand this song. It's been way overplayed and I'm sick of it. It's so cheesy. And the guys are just... well, look at the way they dress. That's not normal. I mean, shirts have buttons, you're supposed to button them up; it's cool to leave a couple of buttons unbotonned, but it's not cool to leave them all unbottened but the last one. It looks bad. The song is ridiculous to say the least... The lyrics are probably some of the worst to ever hit the radio in the last few years (if you bother to look up a translation, you'll see that what I say is true) and the music is just crappy. I mean, it's ok to like crappy music once in a while. The problem is when it becomes a big phenomenon and we stop controling it and then it spreads until it becomes a horrible wave of crappy pop music, corrupting kids all over the world. I mean, just look at the Spice Girls or the Backstreet Boys. That was the Dark Age of music history.
I won't give it 1 star, because one thing I confess: I cry of laughter from hearing this song. That must be worth something.
To end this, I'd like to say this is just my opinion, I'm not trying to bash any of you guys out there who may like this song, I just really can't stand it.
