play this one on small but good quality pc speakers and be fairly close to the speakers, like one six inches either side of the cd player at head height. thats where it sounds best i found out, the various drum tracks come at you from different depths and heights and the sound is mostly in the right range. its better than most of autechre in my book, less austere, almost warm and good-humoured. both groups are out on their own.

If this album is to be your first acquaintance with FUNKST?RUNG, so much the better. However, if you already have "Additional Productions", you may be disappointed--this will merely be more of the same. Still, the guys do good work, and I would rather have this CD in my collection than not.

I bought this cd after reading a collection of rave reviews onit. There is certainly nothing wrong with this cd, but the Autechre ghost lingers strongly over these proceedings! While there are some fantastic sounds and beats on here, its really nothing that Autechre hasn't done in the past. However, as an electronic musician myself, i'd be flattered if someone said my music was even in the same league with Autechre! So, if you're looking for some very good IDM music, and you have all the Autechre stuff, then by all means, pick this up!!

Funkstýrung supported Einstýrzende Neubaten during their last tour. This alone should induce you to buy the record at once but given that you haven't probably heard of EN, I'll try to convince you in a different way. Basically they blend disturbing sounds and breaks to create an electronic texture that sounds tuneful (It's as if you managed to create great music by banging a steel pipe against the wall...only that the sounds here are synth-generated). Some track have hip-hop-like rythms while others are less catchy and more experimental but both have something in common: they steadily rock!

This is the music that will soundtrack the next century,Broken beats stutter away behind haunting melodies and cut up soundbites. Hip Hop has never sounded so modern, and probably never will. "..Distruction" sounds like it wasn't made by people at all, if computers could breakdance, they would to this. Futuristic, cold, robotic, yet strangely emotional. Music like this helps you dream. Glitch Hop indeed.
