Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Brilliant.......2006-08-03

D'Arcangelo's "Shipwreck" sounds as if an electro band were making an IDM album, and the result is great! Tracks like "Manta" or "Tunemx II" combine the playfulness of bands such as Plaid with the melancholy of early Autechre using fractured (but also sparse in comparison with contemporary IDM) beats, a bleepy electroish palette, and the occasional echo of some 80's Depeche Mode-ish melody. Plus, for its short length, the album is quite varied: the album goes from the aforementioned electro-IDM tracks to "Fate in Us", which sounds like old-school videogame music - and I mean that as a compliment. This album is definitely recommended and criminally underrated. Oh! And also check out Monomorph's "Departure Can Wait" - it sounds quite similar to this, which is no wonder since Monomorph is the other alias of the D'Arcangelo brothers themselves...

Anyways, if you like Plaid, Autechre, electro, dark synthpop AND videogame music, please get this album!

5 out of 5 stars 45 minutes that took three years to make.......2000-01-25

and you can hear it. this is brilliant, classic rephlex sytle. again, it's one of those things that you either immediately dig, or it just sounds like blips and bleeps.

3 out of 5 stars 1/2 the cd is really 3-D, the other is a zelda song.......1999-11-03

I don't know i just dont dig the nintendo classicals, there are really good stereo songs with more tripped out beats. it's a definite to the collection of greats.
