5 out of 5 stars overlooked gem.......2006-03-11

this one gets overlooked in favor of more gregarious cuts, but it's at the core of the "Statues" album and it's apparent sub-text of the actual relationship between Mark Brydon and Roisin Murphy (the creative core of Moloko). I feel strongly that the album/single version is best, but the Gus Gus mix is truly "anthemic" and adds a bittersweet quality not apparent in the full-on electro funk meets confessional folk of the original. The Gus Gus mix will grow on you like mold on week old bread (that's a good thing despite the odd analogy...) and has a certain "post-script" feel that helps to solidify the overall story of the Statues narrative. I think a lot of mixers have missed the point with some of Moloko's key tracks, but this mix and Francois K's blissed out "Time is Now" mix (along with his interpretation of "Forever More's" groove) are among some of the better and less common efforts. Also get Martin Buttrich's mix of "Familiar Feeling", it was the first version I heard and it seduced me into the Statues album, thanks Marty!

4 out of 5 stars Hypnotic single.......2005-06-29

I was very pleased to see this track released from Moloko's 'Statues' CD. The two remixes clock in at 7:33 & 7:36 minutes respectively. Statues is probably Moloko's most consistent effort to date. It's a pity they've now disbanded as I would have loved to see where they'd go to after 'Statues.'

Anyway, I suppose I should talk about the single...
Track 1 : Original version - excellent
Track 2 : GusGus remix - killer remix, totally hypnotic and in high rotation in the stereo & the car. Love it!

Track 3 : JDS electronic mix - good, seems a little 'thin' after the GusGus remix, but still an enjoyable remix.

It would have been great to have included a few extra remixes that are floating out there on vinyl.
