5 out of 5 stars Dance + Chill = Shed.......2006-05-25

First introduced to D*Note through Cafe del Mar compilations, if that gives you any idea as to what they sound like. 'Shed My Skin' is downtempo, yet easy to dance to and employs eerie, melancholic vocals & chants. It's definitely a 'type' of music... and well into the type that it is, but it's a seamless marriage of 'dance' and 'chill'. ...I know, I know... but it really is.

4 out of 5 stars funky yet intelligent.......2004-08-19

Although I'm an Airscape/Airwave fan, I was introduced to Pete Heller's music here and was taken by it. Most likely you'll come across his remix that's either 8:05 or 5:33 in length (Shed My Skin had many releases, and the mix lengths kept changing around on 'em).

I almost dismissed him after hearing those but soon came across a Pete Heller's Stylus Mix that's 10:20 in length. It's featured on Vapourized Volume Three (Disc 2), track 4. Heller's breakbeat style shines in this mix. Whoever rearranged it for him did a good job. It's more progressive sounding, and the orchestral strings are given more importance. Those strings Make the track for me.

5 out of 5 stars Eerie vocals, interesting lyrics.......2003-02-20

The bridge of this song kind of reminds me of the one in Mummer's Dance by Loreena McKennitt. Really eerie and intriguing. The lyrics in this song make me wonder if it's about escaping or evolving oneself, i.e:

"I'm floating through the river
twisting and turning
Running through the suns
searching a new life

I don't mind what people say
No I won't look back for another day
Wanna shed my skin and walk away
walk away, walk away, walk away"

I find the Airscape mix the best. I don't know if its featured on this single though, or if they're confusing it with the Airwave mix. It has a stronger beat to enhance the vocals. The rest are more trip hop-esque.

5 out of 5 stars great continuation of d notes previous stuff.......2002-05-08

hey it's been 4 year that D Note hadn't released anything..... unfortunately this isn't an album ... YET!, but that might just be coming later, and this could just be our before taste.

to cut down this cd, and put things easily, it's just like the old smooth d note synth, piano, techno, vocal, unclassifiable music they do...
for all you cool techno lovers out there!

this one is a goody....

my fav remix is Pete Heller's Stylus Mix.

grab this one fast.
