Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Covers a broad spectrum of tastes.......2001-11-30

This cd covers r&b/hip hop flavor with Spread Your Sax and 4 Steps being especially funky particularly if you have a more urban taste. Deep Inside is a nice dance track and proceeds a souful Home is Where the Hatred Is by Bossa Nostra. There are few tunes that while catchy a very listenable, can be best be described as "Different". Feel It, Time Is Moving On, Tokio Station would be in the different but great to listen to category. The rest of the cd is average, but 7 great tracks is good for me!

3 out of 5 stars Hit and Miss...but worth a listen.......2000-03-29

Okay...here's the lowdown on this CD. First off, don't let the first two crummy tracks throw you. Like many compilation CDs, you're gonna get a mixed bag. Some songs are brilliant, others make you wonder how such incompetence got categorized with such fast company. If you do pick up this CD...and I would highly recommend that you do...you will be very pleased with the tracks by Live Tropical Fish, Key Tronics Ensemble, Jerome Van Rossum, Ohm Guru, Instant Cities, Tokio Station, and the best track on this mix, Voo Doo Phunk. These tracks represent some of the most swankiest, sleaziest, and downright smokin' acid jazz/dub I've heard in a long time. (I dig Grassy Knoll, Suba, and James Taylor Quartet, if you need to get some bearings on my taste). The hip/hop rap tracks on this CD, however, are just downright awful. As I said before, the first two tracks will make you want to put this CD aside...BUT STICK WITH IT! Also, you'll want to skip the laughably bad cover of "Home is Where the Hatred Is" and the migraine-inducing "Deep Inside." DJ Rodriguez is competent, but he ends up sounding like a downright genius since his tracks are placed alongside the garbage. So don't let a few bad apples throw you...pick this CD up!
