Mediocre mix cd.......2004-12-10
There aren't many djs that has remixed a few Madonna songs that I actually like. Victor Calderone is the only dj whose remixes of Madonna's songs I actually like. I bought Victor's "E=VC2 vol.1" a few years ago and liked it. A couple of years later when I saw a second volume, I immediately bought it when I came across a copy in the used bins. I must say that I was not impressed by what I heard. I now know why I don't care for hard house and tribal beats, after listening to "E=VC2, vol.2" I just learned to have an aversion to that sort of dance music. The beats are bloody boring and repetitive. There isn't a sense of melody and no vocals. The few songs that I did like on the mix cd was the tracks by Mary Mary, Mandalay, and Madonna. Everything else made me reach for my bottle of Excedrin for the pounding headache I got out of listening to this boring and repetitive cd.
I WANT MORE!!!!!!!!!!.......2004-01-31
This cd came out a while ago, i am not quite sure of the date, and i am feenin' for VC to come out with another. He is an extraordinary dj and i hate to wait. Peter Rauhofer is comin out with his third "Live at the Roxy" cd this month, 2-17 to be exact: THIS WILL BE A MUST GET CUZ HIS TALENT IS JUST OFF THE HOOOOOOOOOK!!!!!! But i anticipate VC to get his behind in the studio and present to us another cd with high energy beats.
Good but not as good as the first.......2001-06-24
After the incredible first CD I was a little disappointed that there wasn't the same high energy vocals as the first. But I think it is still a good CD.
Killer Groove: A redefining moment.......2001-03-27
Maybe Einstein was wrong?
This is just an excellent dance/party CD. From the clubs in NYC, "VC" delivers some serious "E". WHile the first "E=VC2" was good, this sounds like it may become the first true 'classic' of the 21st century for dance music fans. Like the 'clessic' Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, et.al., this is one you just want to hear over and over.
Great heavy bass-beats. like John Digweed's Hong Kong & Los Angeles sets, but with that glitz and energy that is just "so New York". Vic Calderone must have cashed ina few chips here--what a coup, getting Madonna into the mix.
Best cuts: THE DOOR (Circuit Boy), D'LAYNA (Special - Formula dub)/PROGRESSION (Surrender Now - Tribal dub), MADONNA (Skin -The Collaboration Mix)
