Customer Reviews:
My favorite Enigma album.......2006-10-13
Even non-Enigma fans can appreciate this CD. There is not a single weak track on here and the songs range from really upbeat (Push the Limits) to slow and relaxing (Traces), uplifting (Between Mind and Heart) to almost angry sounding (Camera Obscura). If you don't get any other Enigma album, get this one (and maybe "Le Roi..."). I mean "Smell of Desire" is pretty much worth the price of the CD all by itself.
Chill-Out at its best.......2006-07-24
im a heavy listener of faster material, mainly trance and progressive. Like nice solid beats, and always appreciated a good melody and a background. Never did I think that I would ever actually end up addicted to a chillout or new age album, and here it is, im puttin my Dj Tiesto on hold, puttin all my CDs away, to listen to this beautiful and rich album. I cant go an hour without playing Push The Limits or Traces. Whether you like clubbing, or staying at home, or getting drunk, or whatever, its a sin not to give enigma a chance with this, even if your a fan of faster stuff like drumnbass or trance.
One of the better cd's I have heard lately........2006-01-20
Well, many people would say that Enigma is backround music or novelty music or whatever but I have to disagree. Many of the songs on here are too powerful and surley have too much emotion to be simply called backround music. With that said this cd has 3 of my favorite Enigma songs which include: "Push the Limits", "Gravity of Love", and Traces(Light and Weight). The rest of the album is very good also these are just the songs that really stick out to me. All in all I would be very quick to recommend this cd to those with open minds and fans of real music.
Wonderfully Different.......2005-11-17
Enigma has continued to be a favorite. With the release of each subsequent work I find new reason to enjoy the music. Screen Behind The Mirror took me a few listenings to warm up to its feel. However, now I find it difficult to put down. Being a fan of Orff's work helps and the samplings of Carmina Burana add an interesting flavor to each track where they appear. My recommendation would be to listen long and hard before discounting this one. Let it play in the background while you go about other chores. You'll soon find yourself enjoying it more than you believed possible.
Gravity of Love and Push the Limits.......2005-09-17
After seeing the videos for these two songs it makes them that much better, they are great songs! The videos are really cool and unique. Screen Behind the Mirror is Enigmas best and I pretty much knew this after one listen, they are not trying to relax you as much anymore and yet they still do, but now they just plane rock! They are like a New Age/Electronic/Rock band on this album. The use of Carmina Burana is pretty awesome, a very classic epic sounding classical piece. What could be more epic then it in all of musical history? Used in movie trailers and sports highlights and more! Enigma borrows it with a cool style.
"The Gate" is a fine opening for Enigma and it leads into the really awesome "Push the Limits"(Great video). "Gravity of Love" Very epic and intense at times, one of the bands best songs and videos. "Modern Crusaders" is my least favorite song, not huge on the male vocals in the band and the lyrics aren't that special. "Smell of Desire" nice and relaxing. This is one band that really does help me feel calm. "Traces (Light and Weight)" Another relaxing and cool song. "The Screen Behind the Mirror" is an interesting mix of another song into a new. "Endless Quest" is a nicely moving song. "Camera Obscura" a filler, but good. "Between Mind and Heart" Yet another moving and relaxing song. "Silence Must Be Heard" Great ending song to Enigmas best album. You don't really hear this band anymore, which is a shame, they got even better near the end, because they made a great album here and I think this one will stand the test of time more then their other albums, because it has a really cool sound to it that will fit right in with the future of music to come.
