Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Two Sides Of Grover!.......2007-05-26

What makes this 2 album-on-one-CD collection so compelling is that these albums come from very different points.'Inside Moves' comes a few years after Grover's smooth soul classics Winelightand Come Morning and has a very similar feeling; "Watching You,Watching Me" and "When I Look At You" feature Jon Lucien's mellow voice and could've easily come from either of those two albums. The rest of the album offers up a number of similarly romantic instrumetals. What is most fascinating is the funky title song, whith it's Afro Cuban percussion and terrific slap bass playing from Marcus Miller. For fans of classic jazz-funk the real draw of this CD is the presense of the long deleted 'Paradise',from 1979.Grover was still wailing away like you wouldn't believe-moving in and out of the arrangement along with the presense of of scortching violin. The title track is in itself a mini masterpiece, while the inspiringly upbeat "Icey","The Answer In Your Eyes","Asia's Theme" and "Shana" pulse with the rhythms and percussion of Brazil and the Caribbean along with the spirited jazzy instrumentation. Now THAT albums ends with two clobbering funk songs "Tell Me About It Now" and the monsterous "Feel It Comin'".Knowing this about these albums the juxtaposition of these two albums and their very different musical styles shows you how much change in Grover's sound occured in the six years between each album. And even if 'Inside Moves' doesn't "move" you 'Paradise' sure will.Although both will really make an impact if you let them.
