This artist is fantastic! I loved all the songs from the first, to the last song. I play bass professionally. This cat can play!
He has the tone of Earl Klugh and the heart of Wes Montgomery!
If you like it funky, soulful, pretty, masterful, this is it!

Right On Lawrence Barris

Disappointing.......2005-06-02

I bought this CD based on all the positive reviews. I found it to be insipid, weak and flat. It only contains one cut worth playing more than once (I miss you madly). Very much background or elevator muzak. I was hoping to find something new and fresh. Like another comment stated, just a watered down Earl Klugh wannabee. Save your money for Earl.

Soothing Guitar.......2004-03-12

My first introduction to Lawrence Barris came after hearing "Loveland" from this cd a few years back. I own both of Lawrence's cds and I think this one is far better than his Love on Me cd. All the songs feature that soft and soothing guitar accented by keyboards and percussion. My favorite is still "Loveland", but other good songs include "Our Midnight Dance", "Sometime, Somewhere" and "Afternoon Samba". This cd is definitely worth checking out.

The real thing.......2003-09-21

I am a huge music fan, and I'm a huge Lawrence barris fan. Their are some artists in the "smooth jazz" genre, that sound watered down. Lawrence Barris is the real thing! You can tell he means it. Its a great cd with absolutely outstanding, beautiful, exciting, cool, sensual guitar playing. I ordered his latest release "Love On Me". Cant wait.

Lacks Soul.......2005-06-02

I got this CD a couple of weeks ago, played it once, and gave it away. It sounds like Mr. Barris is afraid of his guitar. None of his compositions stand out. I found it to be very, very mediocre (actually, below mediocre). Hard to believe I heard the same CD as other reviewers.

Soft and Smooth.......2004-02-05

I had heard the song "Loveland" from Lawrence's first cd a few years ago. It was really beautiful, but I was never able to to find his cds in any stores. Last week I checked out Lawrence's website and was able to listen to 3 samples off each of his cds. They were all great, so I ordered them both used thru Amazon with "Love On Me" arriving today. The guitar is so soft and smooth on all of the songs - it's the type of cd you want to pop in, sit back, have warm cup of coffee and relax.

He's got it all!.......2003-08-12

I think this guitarist has it all going for him. The songs are well written and they have a funky smoothness to them. The guitar playing is much cleaner than all the other players out there and he plays just the right notes without any junk in between. If you want to know how well the jazz guitar can be played, buy this record. It's funky, it's soulful and it grooves throughout. Larry Barris has maintained a very high level of playing for two CD's now. I can't wait for his next release. Bravo!!!

I first heard Lawrence over the phone, my brother played the first cut off of his first cd, The song was "sometime somewhere" it was
stellar. My brother sent me a copy, it's been one of my favorite cds. I just received "love on me" And let me tell you, its great, world class. I cant say enough about it.

I have Lawrence Barris' first cd, and I love it! I just received "love on me" its really really nice. I found it to be romantic, sexy, and exciting!
