Hubka shows how a sweet sound and a swinging style can work hand in glove, and has assembled as eclectically entertaining a collection of non-standard material as one could wish for.
Dr. Frank Forte, NEW JERSEY JAZZ SOCIETY

This performance, the only one available in English, is problematic. Best is Yves Abel's leadership of the orchestra, which sounds wonderful, imbuing Puccini's lush score with just the right exoticism and emphasis. But aside from Gregory Yurisch's fine Sharpless, the singers don't please. Paul Charles Clarke as Pinkerton is lacking stylistically and vocally, and as Butterfly, Cheryl Barker sounds under strain and never pretty. While she has the power and feeling for the big second-act climax (the sighting of the ship), she never for a moment sounds fragile or girlish, not even in the all-important early scenes. English or not, this set isn't in the running. Stick with Callas or Scotto in Italian, and follow the libretto. --Robert Levine

A touching English Butterfly.......2002-03-27
Anyone familiar with Cheryl Barker's Butterfly will be interested in hearing this recording. I have heard her in the role twice - in Auckland and London - and her voice has filled out as the years have gone on. She hasn't a large italianate soprano; the sound is too slender somehow. Yet there is the paradox - it has great carrying power and a decent cutting edge to make itself heard above the orchestral climaxes. What really impresses is the sense of vulnerability and moral strength she imparts, making sense of the big moments of the secong act. The sound in Act one is gorgeous (and a super D flat in theentrance aria) and she differentiates impressively between the child-bride and the embittered woman of the two acts.
She is surrounded by a mixed supporting cast. Jean Rigby is maternal, warm and affecting as Suzuki. Gregory Yurisich makes Sharpless' dilemma more understandable than usual, rather than being completely ineffectual. Paul Charles Clarke perhaps illustrates Pinkerton's arrogance with a degree of vocal swagger, but the sound is rough-hewn and unlovely save for some moments in the love duet. Stuart Kale's Goro is suitable ingratiating and oily.
Abel's conducting is the other chief draw of this set. That he has experience of the score in the theatre means that his pacing is really superb, and the lush orchestration is given its due, the potent intermezzo during the overnight vigil sounding suitably ominous.
This won't replace the classic Butterfly recordings, but in the absendce of any new ones recently, and for acceptable diction in an English version, it is certainly worth the (not very high) price. Recommended.

Lucifer Employed.......2007-01-05
Lucifer Employed is one of my favorite songs of all time. I've been looking for these guys for a long time. They used to be called Hyphen and I understand that they now have a few different members. However, the singer, Mike Hunter has remained. As such the grouped has retained a great song writer.
Definately worth the purchase as you'll be one of the only people you know who are in on the great secret of Mike's writing.

Best Record Ever.......2004-10-04
This record kills! I play it 20 times a day it just keeps getting better. This band is going to be HUGE soon...
Kite-Eating ME!!!.......2004-05-21
This band THINKS. They put thought into the songs, not just what sounds rad, but, they are like artists creating cool sounds on record. It's really cool. I like this record a lot.
ALL SWEDISH, No FINISH is my favorite song, it grabs me and makes me go crazy every time. I'm glad I got this one.
Another amazing addition to indie.......2004-05-09
Wow. I can't believe how good these guys are. I first found them when i was browsing purevolume.com and i was immediatly hooked. They're a perfect blend of indie/emo/ and post hardcore. They reminded me of Sparta a little and i love sparta so i naturally liked these guys. The lyrics are astounding and the music is anthemic, catchy, and creative. These guys truly understand music and make it happen to the fullest extent. A must buy!
Awesome!.......2004-03-24
A buddy of mine got a copy of this and I borrowed it and have NOT given it back. This CD is awesome, not one song is a skipper. It reminds me of the Dischord sound, bands like Jawbox or Fugazi even, but with more of a Drive like Jehu tinge to it,
without all the screaming. Fave tracks for me are "Width of a straw" and "Retrograde". I like the singer's voice a lot and I also like how the songs are very Bass-driven, as opposed to guitar-driven. I hope these guys come to New York soon, I'm hurtin to see a good band like this Live!! I'm sold.

Very Vibrant & Lively..........2003-03-01
If you are lokking for a magnificent diva album, then "Look No Further" is it. There are a range of sounds from Soul to House music on par with artists like Amber. Some of my favorites are "This Time I Found Love", "Work Me", "Look No Further", & "Free the Love" among others. Another lovely album from Rozalla...
AN ESSENTIAL CD FOR FANS OF ELECTRONIC-DANCE & POP!.......2003-01-16
This is not at all radio friendly dance-pop. This album is club music similar to her first album. On "Look No Further" the mid and up tempo tracks have a bit more of a bounce than her first album. Good examples of this are tracks like "This Time I Found Love", "You Never Love the Same Way Twice", "I Love Music", and "Free The Love". There are also soulful songs like "Baby". On this album Rozalla is more focused vocally and it shows thourghout the album. She also co-writes some of the songs. If you like Amber, Cathy Dennis, Ce Ce Peniston, Crystal Waters, Ultra Nate, Alexia, Robin S., Kristine W.,etc., you will love this album. Also go to her website ...for more information on this fabulous dance artist.
DON'T YOU LOOK NO MORE.......2002-12-17
The bouncy bass line of the tracks make this album dance-pop. There are still heavy clubland dance tracks here, it has just been reduced some in order to make room for tracks that are R&B/Soul and Pop influenced. A satisfying second effort that helps open Rozalla to more music listeners. Rating B.
Look No Further Than Rozalla.......2000-04-30
This is an excellent pop and dance album. There are many great tracks on this one - I Love Music, Free The Love, Do You Believe and many more. There's something here for everyone!
absolutely brilliant!!!!!!!!.......1999-11-02
this lady is absolutely brilliant. all the songs are brilliant, with brilliant singing, from a brilliant singer, who has a brilliant voice.
