Product Description
The Hagiga Quintet, formed in 2001 in Tel-Aviv by Alon Farber and DaniBemedikt, joins together five musicians who seek new connections with jazz and contempory music. The Hagiga is a unique group that combines original compositions, in various styles (swing, funk, latin jazz, jazz) with group improvisation and free interaction. The compositions are inspired by the music of Wayne Shorter and Dave Douglas. From there the Hagiga takes off to create a new exciting atmosphere, spiced with Mediterranean taste. 8 tracks. Fresh Sound. 2005.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Poor Selection.......2003-06-22

There is simply too much of his latter-day work on this album to make it definitive, and the fact is the songs chosen from the later albums are also poor. We get re-recorded selections from his classic album Tubeway Army, only 1 song post 1982, pre 1994 and that song is also re-recorded (a time span in which he put out a lot of music). So basically a bunch of songs from his 3 most popular albums and a bunch of random selections from his last 3 albums. Pure is simply over-represented, 5 songs is way too much for the 'last album'. In my opinion only 4 songs from the albums would have sounded right on this compilation: Pure, Bleed, Love and Napalm, and The Angel Wars. The songs are not represented chronologically, so it can be annoying when you are listening to an absolute classic like "ME" and then soon enough are listening to some average griding 90s industrial. And what can you say when the classic "Warriors" is not even represented at all.
Skip this one, pick up Beggar's Banquets reissues of his catalog from 1978-1983 and if you want more, Metal Rhythm and Sacrifice are the only other worthy albums.
