5 out of 5 stars Fun Times!!.......2007-05-30

My 14 month old loves this cd. Whenever I play it, he gets all excited and starts dancing around the house. All your favorite songs from the "MMCH" TV series.

5 out of 5 stars Great CD!.......2007-05-14

Every time we get in the car my 23-month-old daughter asks to listen to "Mickey Music." When most of the songs start, she gets a huge grin on her face. It makes car rides so much more fun for all of us. I have the songs running through my head all the time, which can be annoying, but the tunes are catchy and it is great for keeping my daughter happy in the car! If your kids like Mickey Mouse, this CD is great!

5 out of 5 stars great entertainment!!.......2007-05-12

he loves it...

5 out of 5 stars The kids love it!.......2007-05-08

The music is true to the shows with enough extras to make it fun to listen to. A good buy, but then it is Disney!

5 out of 5 stars Great For The Grandkids.......2007-04-05

I found this product excellent.

I bought it to be used at my daughter's wedding reception. She wanted it to get her 2 1/2 year old nephew (my grandson) to dance. He had served as the ring bearer in her wedding. He watches "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" all the time and loves the song "Hot Dog". He will get up and dance at the end of the show and that is what she wanted. He kept the cd and listens to it whenever my son or daughter-in-law have him in the van driving him to day care or whenever they go shopping. He has heard all the songs and knows the words very well since he watches "Mickey" and now has the songs to listen to.

Friends of my wife and I heard the song at the reception and saw him dancing. They were familiar with the song since their grandkids watch
"Mickey" also. They paid us they price of the product plus shipping for a copy, so they could give it to their grandkids.

I have purchased 1 for my grandson and 3 for friends, so far.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best of its kind.......2007-04-14

1965 was the year in which Coltrane was making his move away from his classic quartet into even more adventurous directions. It was the year Malcolm X was murdered. The Vietnam war was entering high gear. Recorded in 1965, the music of Dexter Gordon in this album continued to stay close to its essentials - great sound, hard swing, and good, harmony based - bebop inspired improvisations. Judged according to post-bop standards, this is almost a perfect recording. The rhythm section (Harris, Cranshaw and Higgins) create a unique sound, which for me is the most enjoyable sound in post-bop rhythm sections. Barry Harris' solos are perhaps the high point of this album - so tasteful and original. The playing of Freddy Hubbard has always been exceptional, as it is here. And Dexter Gordon proves again that he is one of the giants of tenor saxophone, and a standard by which future saxophone players will always be judged. His tone is both dark and bright, his sense of time so good. All the tunes are great, but I must refer to one small moment. In the ballad "I am a fool to want you", when Dexter returns after Hubbard's lyrical solo, he stops on one note, and then repeats it with a certain growl, which for me holds so much wisdom and human understanding, that I truly consider it one of the higher moments of recorded jazz. Of course I recommend that you listen and decide yourself...

4 out of 5 stars Back in the "Clubhouse".......2007-04-06

Until this recent RVG reissue, Dexter Gordon's "Clubhouse" had a checkered past. Recorded on May 27, 1965 during a visit stateside (and a day prior to "Gettin' Around" -- see my review), it was never released on vinyl until 1979, unearthed only after Dex's triumphant "Homecoming." Then it was released as a single CD in 1990, only to quickly land in the cut-out bins during the height of Capitol's Garth Brooks hysteria. It also appeared on Gordon's Complete Blue Note collection, which by now has been long out of print as well. Now "Clubhouse" finally finds a permanent place in the catalog, with new cover art to boot. This session features Freddie Hubbard on trumpet, and the remarkable rhythm trio of Barry Harris on piano, Bob Cranshaw on bass and Billy Higgins on drums. That rhythm trio was the backbone of one of Blue Note's most famous recordings, Lee Morgan's "The Sidewinder," and their chemistry here is as great as ever. The disc's highlights are the title track, a classic reading of "I'm A Fool to Want You," and the lovely original "Jodi." While not his finest moment on Blue Note, it's nonetheless great to have Dex back in the "Clubhouse."

Got a promo of this cd, loved it so much had to buy it!

4 out of 5 stars 1am Sessions good for 2,3,4 or 5 am!!!.......2005-07-08

The best of NYC Clubhouse is the CD I've been waiting for. Although you can find many of these songs on other compilations, this CD had more of the best songs compiled on one CD.

It gets a 4 out of 5 just because it could have done without just a couple tracks and replaced with more uplifitng trance or went the tribal direction.

I listen to it all the time and theres like 22 tracks so its hard to get bored with it.

Old School favorites from Mel C, Lasgo, and Sarah M. "I believe" is the bomb as a closer and leaves the listener wanting more from this DJ or restarting the CD.

Personal recommendations before listening to the full mix: Sanctuary, As the Rush Comes, I believe, and I Turn To You.

Enjoy!!

5 out of 5 stars A great mix that flows well and keeps the energy up..........2005-04-28

Rarely do I find dance mix CDs that have a great flow. This one kicks off strongly and keeps it going to the very end. Most start strong and fizzle after a few tracks. This one manages to change the pace a bit but still keep the energy throughout the CD. There are many memorable hits such as "I Turn to You" and "Stranger in My House" but also some sleeper ones such as "Santuary" and "Appreciate Me". This one is definitely worth adding to the collection!

5 out of 5 stars BEST DANCE CD HANDS DOWN.......2005-02-14

How good is this cd you ask? Well, its the best, period. It is non stop great club vocals. I am listening to it right now and the mix is unbeatable. "Can't Go On", "I Like It", "More Than Life", and "Stranger In My House" all sound incredible. I can't stop listening to this cd and I just bought it finally. At first I wrote a review saying the song selection could be better but I was wrong. You got to get this if you want the first of hopefully at least 2-3 volumes of the best vocals of the past 5 years.

5 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY F*KEN HOOOOOT MIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2005-01-02

Product Description

From the moment that the first vibrant chords of Manfredo Fest’s infectious groove of “That’s What She Says” vibrate the ear, to the last skin-tight tones of Toto’s slick and streetwise “Rosanna,” Voice Trek’s An A cappella Trek illustrates to jazz music lovers that the journey of a thousand notes begins with just one trek. Highlights include a mind-blowing version of the Beatles “Ticket to Ride,” Brubeck’s streamlined “Take Five” with it’s sleek vocal-sax and vocal drum solos, and Michel Legrand’s “Windmills of Your Mind” spun as a funky Hip Hop track topped with a voice-horn solo. An A Cappella Trek is well worth the trip!

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars They did it again!.......2006-02-28

An A Capella Trek - it's a capella and it's a trek, as we shall see.

I've been listening to Voice Trek since the 80's, yet they never cease to amaze me with their freshness, their vitality, their versatility and their virtuosity.

The first time I heard them at the original Dakota Bar and Grill, I was thrilled to hear Gene Puerling's "Singers Unlimited" sound again. They were stunning, brilliant, and they captured my heart. But over the years could they break the mold, go beyond, develop their own sound and style, be innovative? The answer is a resounding yes - with this release!

The opening and closing tune titles set up a musical travelogue, a trek if you will, through space and time. Let's take the tour!

Start with a Minnesota/Brazil connection with Manfredo Fest's classic "That's What She Says", a delightful contemporary sound combining the coolness of a Minnesota winter with the steamy jungle heat of Manfredo's homeland.

Next stop, the UK, with the Beatles's "Ticket To Ride" ala hip jazz-rock.

Time to lay back with a cool, refreshing "Take Five". A key change signals a switchup from the percussive background harmonies of the beginning to the lush sustained chords in the next "take".

Continue your break with a philosophical contemplation of Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now", good conversation with your best friend or lover, sometimes quiet, sometimes dynamic.

Next, put on your tux - we're going to the opera! Rossini's "William Tell Overture" is a dazzling display of Voice Trek's pyrotechnic abilities and dynamic range, but they don't take themselves too seriously as they expose the sense of humor always present in their live performances.

Experience the warm romantic glow of a fireplace with "A Little Luck". But who needs luck when you're this good?

Time for some fun. Let's samba to the Moon! At my place, we'd start a conga line. Don't blink or you'll miss Kevin sneaking in a tritonal transition on bass here and there. Ole!

How about tilting at some "Windmills", but not in Holland. The impressionistic rubato opening verse ensemble work is perfect for Michel LeGrand's pensiveness. Then we get to boogie with a nice mix of Denis's warmth and some hip street smarts.

"Rosanna" reminds us that love TOTOlly exists in the eternal, yet also in the immediate "now". Scat a bit, be obsessed with Rosanna, scat, obsess as you hold her tight. Oh, the glory of young love!

And now the journey comes to a close. Let's not forget who we are and where we come from - "America, The Beautiful". Please pass the hankies.

Vocal jazz is considered to be a very narrow genre, but Voice Trek will not be constrained by any musical boundaries. Buy this cd and take the Voice Trek today!

By the way, who am I? Just a jazz fan who happens to live in the Twin City area. I've never written any kind of review beyond than a 3-word "Hey, that's great", until today. Voice Trek moves me. They are sure to have the same effect on you.

5 out of 5 stars Voice Trek's Best Selling Jazz Album Of All-Time.......2006-02-10

I love Voice Trek's new album. "An A Cappella Trek" is the best album of 2005. Voice Trek is the #1 vocal group of all-time. My favorite songs are "A Little Luck", and "Rosanna". Those voices are precious than gold and platinum. Only 4 words: VOICE TREK IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars The Good, the Bad, and the Funky.......2006-06-24

Tom Tom Club is two ex-Talking Heads Tina Weymouth and Chris Franz and a large number of friends. They like drums, a lot. Take Talking Heads' "Remain in Light," add in a lot of shoutouts to James Brown and yes yes y'alls and a bit of Caribbean beats and synths a la Miami Sound Machine, and you've got a sense of it. It's fun and it's danceable, though not exactly intellectual.

As for this release, it's good, and from what I've heard of their studio albums the live takes are all better. This is a band that thrives on grooves and energy. Just as all the songs on the Heads' Speaking in Tongues sound much better on the live disc Stop Making Sense, the same holds true here, though the production quality is so-so and--I'll be honest--Tina Weymouth's largely deadpan vocal delivery can be a bit irritating after a while, especially on Punk Lolita, which is way too peppy and cheerful to have the word "punk" in the title. (The vox were always sorta the weak point for Tom Tom Club, though Mystic Bowie is pretty darn good when he takes the lead mic.)

This aside, the drums are infectious and the funk guitars are appropriately delicious and songs like As Above So Below absolutely soar, and the slinky 10-minute take of The Man With the Four Way Hips is dastardly good. Tom Tom Club fans should definitely get Live at the Clubhouse. Talking Heads fans should at least consider it. Apart from that, I recommend their self-titled debut, which can be had cheaper. Then if you like that, hunt this down.

Note: the major problem here is the price, as it's out of print. You can find it cheaper than it was available as of this writing but it's difficult. I finally got it at La La Land, but it was still about $32 with shipping and it took a fortnight to import from the Netherlands. Whether it's worth the hit on your wallet is up to you.

4 out of 5 stars Yes Yes Y'all.......2002-10-25

This album deftly captures the spirit of a live Tom Tom Club show, and they're one of the best live bands out there. It also serves as a greatest hits compilation for people just getting into the club now. Some of the live versions of songs rival their studio counterparts, such as the excelent extended jam on "Genius of Love" and the soulfully sung by Mystic Bowie "Holy Water". I highly reccomend this album.

5 out of 5 stars Paaaarty at the clubhouse.......2002-09-25

If you have ever seen Tom Tom Club in concert (I saw them two years ago), you know that they are the ultimate party band. Their live shows are always more energetic than their studio album, so this double live album is a must-have for everybody who ever attened one of their shows and want to relive the moment.

"Live at the clubhouse" features all of Tom Tom Club's hits (Genius of love, Wordy rappinghood) and Talking Heads classic Take me to the river.

The CD is enhanced with two trailers for dvds and comes in a very cool special package.

5 out of 5 stars Great Mix but itunes users find something else........2006-11-20

Bad Boy Joe doesn't disappoint in this new mix. of course its all songs we've heard before but thats not the point, he mixes are flawless and this one is no different. great choice of songs and i love them all but Make a Move on Me gets on my nerves for some reason so i skip that one. the electro sound must be thing of '06 because thats all i seem to hear nowadays but there are about at least 5 songs on here that are electro.

Now here's the part that made me want to snap the cd in half when i found out after i bought it, I can't rip it using iTunes or anything else other than what the cd allows. it has the copy right protection program imbeded in the cd that only lets you rip to protected WMA format, and who really uses that? this is an strong workout mix that has my iPod written all over it. but oh well it just money wasted.

Anyways if you wanna hear a great mix get this cd, but if you wanna hear a great mix on your ipod, get something else.
