Will the real Slim Shady please stand up? On Eminem's sophomore album, he can't decide who he wants to be: the deranged pseudo-psycho of the Slim Shady LP, or a nice guy who just likes to rhyme about slicing and dicing his girlfriend ("Kim"). Of course, according to Eminem, he's just kidding. He refuses to take responsibility for the misogynistic, homophobic bile he spews, whining that he's the victim of people who don't get his unique sense of humor. It's good old America's fault if the kids aren't alright (Eminem blames bad parenting), and he's just capitalizing on Uncle Sam's dark side. On the Marshall Mathers LP, he's ambivalent about his fame, angry at his life, pissed off that people take him seriously, and fightin' mad at boy bands--and a lot of other white people. But the blue-eyed brat is acutely aware of his status as rap's resident alien: he has the most offensive mouth running, but never uses the "N" word. He gives lyrical love to tragic (black) legends like Tupac and Biggie while dissing white rappers hard. Even sitting duck Puffy gets the kid-gloves treatment. Of course, Eminem is an interesting, witty rapper, and there's some nice production on this CD, courtesy of Dr. Dre and others. But the hatred in Eminem's rhymes makes the album rotten at its core. And his protests that Slim Shady is just a persona become less convincing with each arrest. Then again, Eminem's got it hard: he's rich, famous, white, and male. --Lizz Mendez Berry

If you actually listen, you'll find that he is one of the most talented MC's in the game currently. Very deep as you get past the initial shock of his dramatic flows.

Solid Sophmore Set.......2007-06-26

Worthy follow up to the Slim Shady LP. In this disc, Em goes back to his roots in some tracks, but also talks about life now that he's made it. All the writing strength is still there, and the guy still flows great. Good raps:

Stan - excellent, almost chilling, rap about the pyschology of an obsessed fan who progressively comes unglued when Em doesn't answer his fan mail right away. The chorus from Dido's tune is excellently woven into the rap. Very grim ending. Em's critics couldn't write anything this insightful

Who Knew - good, sarcastic examination of critics who blame music for some wacko's actions.

The WAy I Am - Em gets off his chest frustrations of being famous and never getting a second's privacy from fans who never think maybe he likes to be let alone once in a while.

The REal Slim Shady - very bouncy, catchy rhythm and lyrics. Got lots of radio and video play

Remember Me? - hardcore rapl Em gets to yelling in it. Features other rappers. Very heavy

I'm BAck - Em is back, again knocks/mocks people who blame him for others' actions. Kinda slow and slurry at times, like a record being dragged

Amityville - very heavy, Em yelling in this one too

The Kids - funny rap w/South Park references. Would be lighthearted, except people wind up meeting bad ends.

Criminal - another rap aimed at people who blame Em for violence

A rapper even a white lady and mother can love!.......2007-04-27

Eminem is one cool white boy poet among rappers! Over the past few years, I've been avoiding these 'in your face','woman hater',nasty rapper boys and their songs. I'd heard the stock stuff that's been the popular rap fare on the radio, and saw my 'innocent' young boys (my sons, age 12 and 10) rocking to it, intoning the lyrics along with the nasty boy on the air at that moment: "shut up b...ch', 'I'm gonna slap you, h.!', etc. blah blah blah. I would inwardly frown, and try to keep my 'wet blanket' hostile attitude to myself! After all, I fancied myself a 'modern' Mom, who'd let her boys decide for themselves what music they like. I wasn't afraid it would 'turn them into' angry girl-haters or street thugs. I knew, and still believe, that, when they see a Mom who respects their freedom to hear whatever they like (ok, with a few lines in the sand, when they go totally overboard), and come to the best decison about women, violence, rebellion, and all!
The key turning point, that made me decide to tune into Eminem, and see whether he actually has something good to offer with his stuff, that maybe, just maybe, has passion, soul, and POWER,(as any song that's heavy on sex and violence inevitably MUST also have, or else it becomes truly just angry junk food music), was my viewing of the movie "Scary Movie 3". Specifically, when I saw the white 'farm boy' rapper, who my boys told me was actually a parody of EMINEM, do his priceless 'rap' contest performance, then, I thought....This is totally cool! Let's buy an Eminem CD, and check out the boy!
Well, it only took one spin of Tracks 1,2, and 3,(and one or two later tracks, with a twist on the same themes as the first 3 songs), with their amazing powerful tongue-in-cheek, SLAMMINGLY effective, simultaneous parody of self (Mr. Slim Shady),and the 'ladies' (girlfriend, husband-blaming, wallowing in victimhood, mother, who he wants to 'f..', or bossy ladies on the warpath, or music executives who want to 'silence' his music's soul, cause it's too full of anger at their greed and jaded materialism, and so tell him in bored, whiny voices to try to write stuff that 'sells'), to fall in love with this POET EXTRAORDINAIRE, and his lyrics, which do some heavy duty spittin' on ladies (and men), but also can end with a softly spoken, sweet "I'm just foolin' ladies! You know I love you". I knew at once that this young man moved me, and that he spoke to me as well as to the boys groovin' to his beat and his poetic honest, no b.s., lyrics!
THIS IS ONE GENIUS THAT SHOWS WHAT RAP AT ITS BEST CAN BE, AND I AM HOOKED. I do laugh and shake my head, and cringe at times, when EMINEM spits out one or another line about his g.f. tied up in the trunk! But I also can't help but privately rock myself, and 'rap' with him, and say, keep on rocking Mr. Slim Shady...You got a soul, and you keep on sharing it with your generation, mine, and my kids' !!

When i first heard this album back in 2000 it was out of this world,i listin to the album the other day and it just sounds as fresh as it does today.I have to give a big thumbs up to DR DRE as he created most of the beats and backing music for this album, and produced it.As is all of DRE,S producing from past to present its top notch, big ups to EMINEM and DR DRE,i even own the EMINEM license plate in new zealand as when i purchased the plate back in 99 the operator said who or what is that never heard of him,how times change,come on EM get back with DRE and try and produced another album like this.Its your best.

Hip Hop Masterpiece.......2007-04-06

with out a though eminem is one of the most vicious battle rappers to step into the game, his sadistic sence of humor, lack of moral, and split personalities help boost him to legendary status within years. this album is the highlight of his battle rapping career. from will smith to Insane clown posse. eminem lets it all hang out. althouhg his album doesnt touch the bases of horrorcore, the vulgarity level gives that feel. this guy was so raw they actually cut off n replaced over 10 versese. hate em or love him any true hip hop fan, can see the revolution in which took place here. besides 2 pac, eminem spoke the truth in every detail.

2nd Bone Brothers album is a lttle bit disappointing.......2007-05-25

When Layzie and Bizzy got together for their first album, it was nice, this one is different. As most reviewers have said, almost all the verses are from other songs the 2 recorded on other albums just mixed together and put over new beats. And like most Real Talk ent. albums, it's short, at only 10 songs and 4 skits - plus the fact they put it out the same day as Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's very solid "Strength & Loyalty" album. Of the 10 sogns, 5 are good and 5 are ok, no guest on the album and each person is on every songs. Production is decent, Big Hollis does 5 songs, Vince V does 4 and Preach does 1. If you have Layzie & Young Nobles "Thug Brotehrs" or any of Bizzy's albums on Real Talk Ent. you've already heard most of the verses and I'd skip it.

HUGE Disappointment!.......2007-05-14

I can't believe I am about to write a bad review about a Bone CD, BUT... I was really anticipating the release of this album, and paid $18 to get it the day it came out, only to be incredibly disappointed. I really have to wonder if Layzie and Bizzy even know that they released a new Bone Brothers CD? The entire disc is composed of recycled lyrics from Midwest Cowboy and Thug Brothers... I don't think there are any new verses at all. I will say I liked most of the beats though, but that's about it. Normally I can put in a Bone CD and just let it play through, I tried to listen to this disc twice and gave up... The first Bone Brothers album was WAY better. I can't believe they let this crap get released..... this is going to be added to my CD rack just to help complete my collection but will otherwise just be collecting dust.

This CD is not recorded in the studio together. Rather Bizzy Bone and Layzie Bone acapellas are taken off of other CD's and put over new beats. This per say is a remixed album of Thug Brothers Vs Midwest Cowboy. As other reviewers say the beats are no where near the quality of the originals. Not to mention the verses have no theme on tracks as it can be noted that there is no chemistry flow and have awkward feelings. For a bone duo check out thug brothers instead of this disc. Thug Brothers is a hip hop collaboration of Bones' Layzie and the Outlawz' Young Noble.

a sad disgrace .......2007-05-11

just like the other two who have reviewed this cd i am disgusted by what real talk ent. did i love the label but do even layzie and bizzy know that they put an album out of thug brothers and midwest cowboy mix'd up its just sad i did like the beats tho and thats about it i want my money back for that one well because i have to give it a rating to go through i put it at a one but it doesnt deserve it

This album is a disgrace, embarassment and a slap in the face to all Bone Thug fans. I have been waiting for new material from Bone Thugs and Bizzy Bone only to be only half satisfied. Strength and Loyalty gets 5 Stars. Bone Brothers 2 gets 1 star only because the lyrics are still better than 90% of most rappers out there(excluding Layzie's versus, they were sub par). All of the lyrics were cut and pasted from previous albums(very badly)into new beats . This album is garbage and I would not advise anyone to buy it. Do not buy this album; unless you want my 1 time used copy for the price of shipping! I have already written a much nastier letter to Real Talk Entertainment and you should also!

Brilliant!.......2007-04-25

This cd is simply amazing! I was once a fan of secular hip hop, but this cd really changed my views about the subject. Secular hip hop is terrible in content. Lecrae brings great beats, better than most popular hip hop artists, and combines solid lyricism. Most importantly, he glorifies God in his music. The song Jesus Muzik is quite possibly the best hip hop song I've heard.

I highly recommend this cd for it's quality music and message. Don't be a fan of secular hip hop and its poor message. As the cd title states, this is the real talk (about Christianity), not guns, sex, drugs. Listen to Lecrae, you won't be disappointed.

5 stars for this album!
From the moment I heard Lecrea singing with Flame on Flame's 2nd album, I knew Lecrea would be awesome! I didn't order the CD online, but kept looking for it at local Christian stores. Now that I have "Real Talk", I've got my hands on a gem!
Lecrea easily outdoes secular rappers and hip-hop, and he does it with the style of a brother in Christ. Like other reviewers are mentioning, I'll say he has the ability to spin tracks for everyone, further allowing anyone to pick this CD up and find something they'll like. And don't forget to listen for the two bonus tracks at the end of the CD. Totally worth it. Totally worth the money you probably wasted on secular rap artists. This is the BEST hip-hop CD I've heard in a LONG, LONG time. I totally recommend anything by Lecrea. Keep serving!

Looking for a(nother) awesome gangsta rap artist?.......2006-01-14

This is from who used to be a rap listener, but now, wants bass and a rapper who raps with that bold and aggressive attitude type approach. I don't usually like rap, because too much of the artists today talk about the same thing, over and over again, drugs, alcohol, violence, repeat. Hey! And what the heck? I've been trying to find a gangsta rap artist with that southern style beat and sound. Lecrae is an artist that has music so unique, and totally sweet rap songs. And yes, with bass, too (Represent, check that one out first, then, Take Me As I Am, Souled Out, and We Don't). Not just more rap songs, but these songs have the addictive hook to them that makes you want to get up and listen to it over and over again. Heck, I find myself even wanting to get up, bob my head, and rap along with these songs. They are so smooth flowing, with smooth great bass, too. One example is Represent. It's like clean Lil Jon. I couldn't believe this. Yea! This is the rap artist I'm talking about that can actually rap without the repeated drugs, alcohol, and violence lyrics. 50 Cent (Take Me As I Am), Ludacris, T.I., Bun B. (untitled track, which is a slower gangsta sounding version of Represent), Twista (Aliens, and Repesent), Will Smith (I kid you not, listen to Crossover) Lil Jon (Represent), and all them gangsta rappers, this artist sounds similar to all those and more. So, Lecrae: Real Talk. He doesn't just constantly overdo it and shove one of or the same message in your face. Go listen to some sample songs, and if you are as hooked as I am, hopefully ya'll reading this will go out, and buy Lecrae's album, Real Talk, and support him. Hopefully this review helps anyone looking for a good rap artist they can look to and stick up to. So check him out.

i knew i was getting this album as soon as i heard the first track off of it. i ended up liking all of them.

the lyrics, flow, and beats are cold-- i can't wait til he has another album.

i saw him in concert with truth, cm, and flame. he was probably the best.

i know a lot of gospel hip hop either sounds cliche or compromising of chrisitan value. this does neither. everything is fresh and straight forward.

sometimes his voice sounds like luda, but he has his own unique style that you get to hear varying from track to track.

Taken in small doses, Fabolous's for-the-club raps work nicely… well, for the club--and nothing much else. On the addictive "Breathe" he reluctantly ditches his usual drawl and spits some urgent ghettocentric punch lines with great effect. Interestingly, on "Don't Stop Won't Stop," Fabolous charges that people continue to steal his flow. Now, nobody's sure who has the copyright on the lazy delivery that Mase and Loon also employ, but that's a moot point on "Baby," where his crooner homey Mike Shorey sings over a familiar Michael Jackson sample (think De La Soul's "Breakadawn"). The obligatory Lil' Mo collabo "Holla at Somebody Real" is no "Can't Let You Go" although "Tit 4 Tat" offers a nice respite from the banality of the beats and lyrics--but that might be because the ubiquitous Pharrell is on board. Sean Paul sounds like he phoned in his verses on "It's All Right," and, on "It's Ghetto," when Fab raps about his hood exploits from the living room of his palatial estate, he just doesn't sound that genuine anymore. --Dalton Higgins

Fab is a skilled lyricist, but some tracks are a little too predictable. Some tracks are great while others are only ok. The production is pretty good as producers include Just Blaze, The Neptunes, Scott Storch, The Trackmasters, Jonathan Rotem, DJ Khaled, and more. Guest appearances include Lil' Mo, Mike Shorey, Young Jeezy, Sean Paul, Paul Cain, Nate Dogg, Charlie Murphy, and more. Overall, this is a solid album.

He doesn't use his skill........2006-10-15

Fabolous is a talented MC but doesn't use his skill to his full potential. He flows good sometimes in this album but he can get very annoying. I own this and his debut album Ghetto Fabolous and I recognize two things about them that have in common, one both albums are commercialized a little much and another thing is that some of these beats can be made by an eight grade with a synthesiser. This album I listened to and wasn't impresse but wasn't in total shock of how bad it was. The annoying parts are in the first song Somethin' Like a Pimp when he is flowing decently he just pauses and the song basically stops for a second (lord knows how many pause are made). Then he copied a Boogie Down song from Stop the Violence which is ok, but the way he changed it to is much differnet from what KRS said. 1,2,3 is that song copying by the 1,2,3 but changed the verse of "1,2,3, The group is called BDP, and if you want to go to the tip top, Stop the violence in hip hop" to "1,2,3, You don't really want to f*** with me, YOur on my block f***** wit a gangsta." This got me a little mad because he not only changed the verse to a pointless verse, but how he changed the meaning from KRS saying to stop violence to provoking violence. Another bad part on this album is the guest appearences. How can anybody have Young Jeezy or Pharell featured. Pharell is a loser who half the time raps and the other half sings, and he sucks at rapping and isn't a great singer, and not to mention people say he's a good producer, from what I have seen he produced a horrible beat for the song Mr. Me Too by the Clipse. And Young Jeezy, one of the most boring rappers to listen to with everything wrong. His lyrics are all about crack and how he's the "Snowman", and his voice is just painful to hear. Those are some parts I didn't like about this album, but some good stuff is sometimes he flows good. A song that actually impressed me was Breathe. This was a good song by the flow a decent beat, and a pretty good point. Other then the bad spots here this is a decent album. Fabolous is a talented MC but his problems are that he needs better producing and he needs to use his potential to the fullest. Otherwise this is a decent album to have in a collection.

Wow!.......2006-02-01

Okay, I bought this album last March because I was going on a long trip and wanted something to listen to. I wasn't sure how good it would be because I hadn't heard any of the songs before I purchased it. I picked it up, put it in my cd player, and started listening to it and was blown away. Every song was fire and showed an artist with some real potential to fulfill. Now I know this is his third album, but I feel that he could still get better. All of the beats are very good, with Breath having one of the best beats I have ever heard and Fab spitting some incredible lyrics. Other highlights include Don't Stop, Won't Stop, Can You Hear Me, and PoPo. Can You Hear Me has some great lyrics and is one of my favorites on this cd. I highly recommend this cd, as well as Fab's other albums.

Step It Up!!.......2006-01-04

As with Twista after Kamikaze, i expected big things from Real talk after the very solid 'Street Dreams'. However this was not the case. This has it's standout tracks like Ghetto and It's Alright with Sean Paul but too be honest your not really missing much if u don't get this. On Street Dreams the guests were very good but the ones on here are a let down. Too much Pharell! Damn he annoys me. Also when is he gonna ditch Paul Cain man he does nuttin for ya and Black Ice who? Most rappers talk about girls, money and drugs. But he adds cars to the list of useless material in songs. I don't usually feel that the singles are the best on the album but with this album, Breathe is one of the standout tracks. Step it up man! 3/5 at max.

Since his "Ghetto Fabolous", all Fabolous is been doing is improving his lyrics! "Streat Dreams" hit the streets and he was a multi platinum rapper.

"Real Talk" is a great party/gangsta rap type album.

This album is almost flawless and in my eyes, it is a hip hop classic. It is Missy's best album, with Under Construction in a very close second place.

Timbaland's production on here is untouchable, even to this day. Unlike almost every other rap song out there, these songs aren't just the same loop repeated over and over again... they have movements. They unravel as the song moves on. This album, which spans over an hour, does not get boring for even one moment. Since Missy hadn't fully developed her flow at this point, she smartly made the album half singing, half rapping. This also further sets it apart from any other rap release.

This Missy Elliott album, although overlooked, is an essential recording. I would say that it paved the way for other artists... but no one has been able to touch the futuristic genius of Missy and Timbaland on this album. Ha!

Da Real World for Real!.......2005-09-16

Timbaland is the man! He got some hot beats for Missy and Missy added some hot lyrics and came out with fire!. In my opinion this is one of Missy's best work. She showed us how creative and talanted she is. Also the guest apearances are very nice. We got Da Brat, Lil Kim, Aaliyah, Eminem, and Juvenille. I still spin this cd and it doesnt get old. Da Matrix.......2005-09-11

Missy Elliot's sophomore effort, Da Real World, is heavily influenced by the movie Matrix. It's more so the production of Timbaland that gives the feeling and also supports the album as a strong foundation. As the album begins with "Beat Biters", this song sets the tone for the entire LP with dark violin undertones. Missy turns to a more mainstream feel by singing on "All N My Grill" featuring Big Boi and "You Don't Know". Redman take control of the situation on "Dangerous Mouths" as he out shines Missy over a layered off-beat track. To a little rougher feel, "Hot Boyz", Missy actually sings / flow with grace and finesse. After the talking on "Checkin' For You (Interlude)" featuring Lil' Kim should have been an actual song or simply longer with the singing of Misdemeanor and the track. Aaliyah & Da Brat aid Missy on "Stickin' Chickens" for a good lady connection overall with solid performances. "Smooth Chick" and "She's A B****" sounds strikingly similar with only a slight difference, but both are upbeat and both good in their own rights. Another R&B tune, "Crazy Feelings", ends the album as the last song with a slow ride ballad. "U Can't Resist" featuring B.G. & Juvenile is a highlight all rap / hip-hop song on here as Missy takes two verses for herself. Da Real World's production and variety is what makes this a good release for a music lover in general.

Missy is unstoppable!.......2005-07-08

Missy Elliott is one of hip hops poineers who has produced and worked with many artists and continually makes great music.
MIssy doesn't disappoint with this record! Her beats and flows are more aggresive and more street than her latter ones.
Aaliyah, Eminem, Beyonce, Big Boi (of Outcast) Juvenile, BG, Da Brat, Lil Mo, Redman, and Lil Kim(interlude) all contribute on the album but don't ever take away from Missy but only enhance the album.
There isn't one song on here that is bad and this is probably now my favorite Missy CD which used to go to SO Addictive!
Favs: Busta Rhyme, Beat Biters, Stickin Chickens, Hot Boyz, and Crazy Feelings, basically everything!
This album is way ahead of its time.... still is! Go get it if you like any of Missy's work!

Sad signs of decline.......2005-02-21

As the title suggests, this is Ice-T's return. But the return to exactly what? It could be viewed as either the return to the forefront of hip-hop, or the return to his roots, end of the 80s style of hip-hop. While I'm sure Ice thought of the former, the resulting album doesn't quite achieve any of the two "Return to" targets.

There are two very notable changes in Ice-T style here. First is in the lyrics department. While Ice is as intelligent and witful as ever, he has toned down his verses a lot. Gone is the almost uncontrolled aggression of "Home Invasion". Instead we have mostly slow to mid-tempo tracks, most of which deal with the topics of either rap game and its rules, or warns against being a gangster. This change is quite understandable for a man about to turn 40 years old. The lyrics are mostly good and to the point. Though I must admit I still find the 2 love ballads here to be somewhat out of place.

The other notable change is in the music. It has advanced from basic beats and noises towards more rich soundscape. Most of the tracks, especially the slower ones, attempt to develop a feeling of uneasiness and tension, and most of the times it works.

So why do I think this album is one more step on the way down? Because taken as a whole, it lacks the focus and a sense of general direction that "O.G." maintained perfectly. Not a single time did I cringe, realizing that this or that track is just a filler ("Forced To Do Dirt", anyone?). Another turn off might be that old-school feeling of the whole attempt, which simply sounds out of tune with the general development of rap. Clearly Ice-T wanted to put himself back in the game. But as much as I respect his previous efforts, more often than not I vision a man in his late 30s who is generally unsure as to what kind of music really works in 1996, and his songs often sound strained and entirely forced out.

That being said, for long time fans, which I am one of, this is generally a nice little album, that is worth to be listened to occasionally. But it's far from being a mandatory purchase.

Average for Ice-T.......2004-08-29

For me Ice-T is one of the best rappers ever and I've spent long hours listening to his hardcore gangster rap. Kind of odd for a middle-aged white guy but what can I say? His in your face, pro-freedom of speech attitude is one that I hold myself. He is one of the founding fathers of gangster rap and one of it's most innovative lyricists. I've seen Ice-T do his rap act only once but have seen him with his band Body Count four times and he puts on a tremendous show.

Return of the Real is not a bad album but I scratch my head and wonder what in the heck Ice-T is trying to sing a ballad for. The album gets a little tedious at times but it listenable (can I create a new word?). But there are no outstanding songs on this album.

Unfortunately this album gets 0 stars. There are not songs worthy of star rating. But none of the songs are bad either.

Songs that get no stars are those that I might like but not enough to give it a star or ones I find boring or actively dislike. Rhyme Pays,Power,Iceburg,O.G.,Home Invasion and Classic collection are better,but this is worth owning just to hear ice-t's voice.

Tight!!!.......2002-04-18

Very impressive, yet but very underrated 6th album from Ice T. This has Ice at his finest, and is arguably his best since O.G. This album has the best in beats, lyrics, you name it. Everything you could ask from an Ice-T album. Don't sleep on this album, buy it now and see why Ice T is the legend that he is!

This is a very underrated album by The Iceberg. The production was tight. If you want great hardcore gangsta rap look no further.

Another Monster Anthrax Album.......2007-04-14

Originally released in 1998, Volume 8: the Threat Is Real was the third album of "the Bush era". I was always aware of Anthrax growing up, but aside from their goofball "I'm the Man" single, the band never really made much of an impact on me until they replaced vocalist Joey Belladonna with Armored Saint's John Bush. Bush's energetic and intense yet still melodic vocal style just seemed like such a better fit for Anthrax's brand of thrash, and I still view that lineup's debut - 1993's Sound of White Noise - as the best Anthrax album ever.

Volume 8 is the band's first album since being unceremoniously dumped by their record company. Some have argued that the previous two Anthrax albums (1993's Sound of White Noise and 1995's Stomp 442) were mediocre efforts, causing the label to kick the band loose. Anyone can listen to either of those albums and come away unimpressed needs to have their heads examined! Volume 8 is another high-octane performance by the new and improved Anthrax, and picks up right where Stomp 442 left off. It is undeniably a metal album, albeit a more diverse one than previous efforts. You certainly wouldn't have found a country-esque song like "Toast to the Extras" on Among the Living! Guest appearances by Pantera's Phil Anselmo and Dimebag Darrell reinforce Volume 8's metal credentials

Anthrax is a band that gets smarter and more creative with each release, yet still manages to maintain their "metal thrashing mad" aggression. Volume 8 may seem a bit uneven at times, but with so many tracks there are bound to be a few "off" moments. Still, the fact remains that an average Anthrax song is still going to be better than many other bands' best efforts.

The 2003 reissue of Volume 8 features three bonus tracks, four if you count the fact that the previously hidden (and incredibly powerful) song "Pieces" is now a separate track. In addition to a new studio track called "Giving the Horns", the band gives us another pair of diverse covers - Radiohead's "the Bends" and DRI's "Snap/I'd Rather Be Sleeping". When it comes to cover songs, Anthrax never ceases to amaze me with their unorthodox choices. How many other metal bands will cover both Iron Maiden and Radiohead? If you're one of the faithful who bought Volume 8 the first time around, you may want to consider replacing your old version.

IMO the best Anthrax disc.......2007-02-20

Aside from the original stuff, this CD is by far the best Anthrax CD with the new singer.

Anthrax's *real* best album.......2006-04-15

If it hadn't been for poor marketing, this probably would have been one of the biggest hits of 98. After Stomp 442, which suffered from many songs that pretty much sounded alike, Anthrax increased their range for Volume 8 and came up with a collection of songs that are heavy, funny, and dynamic.

The only thing that stops it from being a 5-star winner is the fact that it's not all that groundbreaking. Still, it's far better than anything from the Belladonna years.

Anthrax continue to stretch out.......2005-11-10

Another reviewer noted that Dimebag Darrel played on this recording, and he did indeed assist on an album that saw a few different things going.

Anthrax still delivered heavyweight riffs, powerful vocals from Jon Bush and some incisive, biting tracks. "Born Again Idiot," that title pretty much says it all, and other killers were "Catharsis" and "Hog Tied."

There were a number of tracks were you heard some very different sounds from the band, with members taking up some different instruments and trying out some new stuff. Hardly filler.

The comedic side of the guys is still there. "Cupajoe" is hilarious (and is on my answering machine--keeps the telemarketers away!).

Doesn't matter what purists think--this album rocked, and I enjoyed it highly.

Everybody fails to mention that Dimebag Darrel contributes on this album........2005-08-13

This was the first Anthrax album I bought, I thought it was awesome. Not too much to say, other than it rocks most of the time. Oh yeah, Dimebag throws in licks on a couple of songs which is reason enough to buy it.

For anyone who is fan of Pastor Troy or down south music, you need to check this out. It may be hard to find if you dont live in GA so I suggest you order it from this website if you want it. This is mainly a compilation CD from Pastor Troy that features some of his most popular songs and some of his best songs that you might not have heard.

Every song on the album is worth a listen. Like I said if you are a Pastor Troy fan this is a must have. Its one of his best CDs
