This CD is a real treat for anyone who wants creativity, honesty, thoughtfulness, originality and inspiration for their daily lives presented in tunes you can walk away singing. If thinking things through and living a right life are dear to you, you'll love this one. If you're not self-righteously judgmental and not afraid to look at yourself this CD can only delight you. The whole truth and nothing but.......2007-05-22

This is a great CD! Good vocals, good instrumentation, and great writing. Susan Werner takes on all comers - phony evangelists, exclusionary fundamentalism, and the boys club mentality of the Catholic Church. When she is not lambasting theocrats, she is expressing the contradiction and confusion experienced by those trying to make "sense" of spirituality and theological concerns. "our father" by itself is worth the price of the CD.

Beautiful lady, smooth voice, good compositions. Commentary on religion, such as "How Can I Love One who Hates Me?" My family and my church choir members have just about worn out my copy and many have ordered their own.

Susan uses the gospel style to explore her thoughts on religion. She reflects the experiences of many people her age. "You ask too many questions, dear. No, I think you ask too few." This is a dialogue from one of the songs, and gets at the root of discontent with traditional faith. Yet, the gospel style is so upbeat that you can't help but feel optimistic about the whole process.

I purchased this CD as a Christmas gift for a friend who is a big Shirley Caesar fan. She is very pleased with the music. I bought one for me, as well. Haven't listened to my copy yet, but I liked the songs I heard when I previewed the CD prior to purchase.

God has been soooo good to me since I found my love in him and my Lord and savior Jesus Christ,I'm a member of this incredible woman's church for 3 yrs and you just don't know how much she and her husband Bishop Williams have tought me in their preachings,I haved learned to accept death when my family members leave me, and I know that we will be together agin,I lost my Best friend from the ages of 5 yrs old,I didnt find out she passed until 2 months later,then I lost an Aunt and at this time Paster had lost her sister,I felt her pain,saaaw her tears and still felt her passion and love for the Lord,I have been so busy with family and my husband I haven't been to church in about 3 weeks and I know Pastor is gonna tel me "Let her get a switch" this album had me crying while driving on the song "everyday is mothers day" I felt her pain through this incredible track,and I began to call on the Lord to help my mother touch,heal her heart and mind and body the Dr's can write you a presciption but JESUS can do the healing,I had the privealedge to witness Pastor and Tonex sing this title track on her Birthday"I hoped she liked the gift I got her" But above all this album is so amazing, I mean it has been anointed by God himself I know this is the truth because I could "FEEL" the healing of the Lord all through my body I HAD to pull over on side the road and let the spirit finsh what he started,This album is a spiritual healing album it touches EVERY pain and situation in ANYONE's life,If you have strayed from the LORD PLEASE IT'S NOT TO LATE CALL THE NAME OF JESUS RIGHT NOW.Halleuah Praise God, give him some PRAISE, He's worthy of an honorable praise.

Simply Amazing! Pastor Shirley Caesar does it again........2005-09-13

I was totally satisfied. I believe this is her best album. The song "I know the Truth" is excellent! "Touch, Heal and Deliver" is a good song, but I feel it has a little too much bass. I don't usually like songs about mothers - but I was surprised with my reaction with the song "Everyday is like Mother's day". I was really moved by that song! It's beautiful. "Miracles Still Happen" is awesome and very encouraging. Although tolerable, I really didn't love the song "Jailbird"...it's just not me. But "The debt I owe" was excellent in every way - music and Shirley's vocals. She sings the song as no one else could...and her timing in the song is fantastic! In my opinion, the two songs that best display her awesome vocals are "I've been Redeemed" (She sings it so lovely that I wish it wasn't a duet) and "Come To The Altar"...simply marvelous. All in all, my biggest complaint about the CD is that she sounds somewhat "far" in most of the songs. In other words, her voice is not always clear and it has NOTHING to do with her singing - it's all about the studio recording. Despite all of that - Shirley's new album blessed me so much. I absolutely LOVE it and I recommend it to everyone! Buy it as soon as you can!

Been a Shirley Caesar fan for almost 20 years, and it is clear that she has saved the best for last. No doubt that this record could easily be the greatest that she has ever done! High energy power packed Gospel sung as only Caesar can do! Buy it!

I listened to this on my best friend's ipod. It was deep. At last a gospel rap album which is for real. Talking about real issues and mixing Christ and the scriptures into it properly. My favourite tracks were (in no particular order):

The Jesus Anthem, My Story, N.F.L and Fourplay.

Now I've gotta go and buy this myself lol. Bless

Mix it up.......2005-02-04

This is not the old Carman. He throws a couple of harder songs into the mix with his praise songs. Even if you aren't into his louder, harder, and faster songs you will still enjoy this album. There are fewer songs on this album compared to some of his others. Don't let that discourage you. Most of the songs on this album are a little longer so you aren't getting shorted out of any music. Check out some of the promos that came out around the same time as this CD. There was a devotional and a book for kids. Overall this is a wonderful album from a great artist.

I'd like to state, that after reviewing this cd multiple times, I've enjoyed it, it's helped me get through various hard times in my life, and honestly, I can't deny the fact that Carman has most definately stated truth about God so fluently, chosen his words so carefully to come out with an excellent impression that he has done not a job of his own doing, but a job, a gift, an honor that God gave him to do! God is awesome, wonderful, and understanding. Carman, I salute you, for giving the world a gift that is best not to be denied, because man, without you, i'm not sure if i'd be here today! Carman is an awesome Chrisitan artist who doesn't try to veil the gospel message or water it down. In this day and age where it is not politically correct to talk about, much less sing about, the name of Jesus, it is refreshing to know that Carman has the backbone to boldly proclaim the Lordship of Jesus Christ! My wife and I, along with our three young sons, all love to listen to Carman and his music.
I thank God for Carman and appreciate both his humility and his openess to the Holy Spirit! Oh, and by the way, this CD rocks!!!

One of Carman's Best!!.......2001-11-10

Carman has always (from as early on as I can remember) sang a lot of songs that have stories to them. I think that's what's kept me listening to his music all this time-besides the most obvious fact that his music ALWAYS directly glorifies God, and he's got a good, strong voice. While I'm not into listening to his softer ballads most of the time, they're still uplifting and worth it to hear the creativity in his story-songs.

So how do you follow up a release that features the song of the year? Very soulfully, if you're Bob Carlisle, the man who made "Butterfly Kisses" the 1997 Christian song of the year. Much in the vein of Michael Bolton, Carlisle's strength lies in his brand of gritty blue-eyed soul. And it's never moved stronger than in his new release, Nothing but the Truth. In powerhouse R&B numbers such as "Lay Your Hands on Me" and "Forgiveness," Carlisle pays homage to the music of his youth and a strong exposure to Motown. There's a wonderful duet with Carlisle and Bryan Duncan, himself no vocal slouch, on the cover of "Love Is the Answer." While Carlisle's reworking of Amy Grant's "Baby Baby" seems flat, he ends the release on a rich note with the moving, deeply reflective ballad "After All" (cowritten with Randy Stonehill). --Michael Lyttle

Although I must admit I didn't like every single song on this album, I had to give it 5 stars because the second song, which I believe is "Lay your hands on me" made me laugh out loud. The words, "I don't need no psychoanalsyt to get to You," were really funny to me because I'm a psychologist-but as always, Carlisle is right- we certainly don't need a specialist to get to God, just Jesus. Shalom! dm.

Bob Carlisle On Steroids.......2000-10-03

I've been a Bob Carlisle fan since I heard the first few bars of "Long Way From Paradise" back in his Allies days. He is certainly one of the most versatile vocalists in popular music (Christian OR mainstream) as he always powerfully delivers in any music style from Motown Soul/Nashville Rock numbers to tender ballads. This album, riding the wave of "Butterfly Kisses'" popularity, takes it up a notch. The arranging, engineering, and mixing is the best I've heard on any Carlisle-related album. The title track, "Nothing But The Truth," a driving and fun mixture of Latino and Blues rock, rocketed to the top of my "Wail-Along-In-The-Car" list (it's worth the price of admission all by itself), and guest vocalist Bryan Duncan's lovely tenor is always welcome. The album's remaining tracks are juiced up, but still classic Bob.

The ONLY reason I didn't rate this project 5-stars is because of the retooling of Amy Grant's lolly-pop song, "Baby-baby." (I was actually embarrassed listening to it the first time with my friends who kept saying, "You've got to be kidding". After a number of listens, I was able to catch a bit of his funky vision.) Thankfully, the rest of the album's strengths more than compensate for its one misstep.

I was able to sit down and really listen to this cd and it was astounding. It takes the older hymns of the faith and puts them in a new dimension that makes my soul kind of soar. It is hard to explain, but in a very subtle way just listening lifted me up like never before. I hope Patti does more material because I will get it for sure.

Although I've had this CD since it's original release date, I still listen to it everyday! Bishop Eddie Long and The New Birth Choir provides their listeners with a genuine worship experience. My Favorites include tracks #3, #5, #7, and #11.

This is my absolute favorite gospel CD. Anytime I want inspiration or feel the need to worship in my car, at my computer, or wherever I may be, this is what I play. I love every song, but my favorite is "Thank you for your Grace", because it has such profound meaning to me. "Spirit and Truth" is heartfelt praise music at it's very best!

I received this CD last year and I think that I have played it so much that I need to order it again and I will. This is a "wonderful" CD. The selection of songs are so enriching. This is a "MUST HAVE". This CD is Spirit Filled and Nothing But the Truth.

Phenomenal!.......2004-05-25

I received a promo copy of Bishop Eddie Long's Newbirth Total Praise Choir/Spirit & Truth CD at the "I Hear Music In The Air" conference in Cincinnati May 14th. The CD was formally released last Monday, May 18th.

The promo CD had three songs on it (Suddenly, Thank You For Your Grace and Sprit and Truth) and I was just blown away by how incredibly great all three songs were!! I haven't stopped listening to the promo CD since I got it and I ordered up the several copies of the full CD last week so I'd have some to give to friends! Kevin Bond wrote the songs and produced the CD, and the 250 voice choir is powerful and amazing.
