Flo And Eddie are Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman who had great success and scored many hits world wide in the '60s as members of The Turtles. After splitting from The Turtles, the duo joined Frank Zappa and The Mothers O Invention before moving on as a 'solo' duo. The duo also provided backing vocals for T.Rex on their Electric Warrior and The Slider albums, which became part of T.Rex's signature sound. Illegal, Immoral & Fattening is their third album, originally released n 1974. Moving Targets was their fourth album and was relapsed two years later in '76. Targets features Mother Ian Underwood and Jeff Skunk Baxter and also has a re-working of The Turtles classic 'Elenore'. Oh man, is this a treat for Moving Targets fans! Not just because guitarist/singer Pat Leonard was formerly a bassist in that band and Pat Brady was the drummer, but also because, with two new members and a new name, they completely reprise the furious energy, drive, and explosive/expansive sound of that legendary underground Boston group. Just as their older band was often favorably compared to the later Hüsker Dü, you'd swear that the leader of the Targets, enormous talent Kenny Chambers, was involved here somewhere, even though he isn't. One mighty, ungodly, gigantic blast of Leonard and Danny Grant's guitars can only keep up with the boulder-big smacks of Brady and bassist Guy Martin. They were more or less a studio project, but now they're a real band that plays 'round Boston and has toured in Florida (home of the Rock Fetish label). This newer version of Please Oh Please jumps right off the speakers like a startled cat leaping off a high kitchen counter. This is probably the loudest, hottest, heaviest, kicking post-punk rock album released since Leatherface's pounding Mush or at least since Sugar packed it in. 12 songs so vicious and head-banging (no, that's not a reference to the fractured skull Leonard suffered in a car smash two years prior!), you just can't play it softly.
