...the music delivers. Akins' tenor is exuberant in the title tune and tender in several ballads, including Sam Rivers' Beatrice and Just One More Chance. His note choice seems well-judged without being overcalculating, and his tone is secure-hearty but not course-in all registers. Rowe is a most inventive pianist. He makes something individually attractive out of the oft-played Summertime and creates, whether consciously or not, an effective contrast with McCoy Tyner in the Coltrane version. Throughout, Hombracht and Coleman support capably the effective Rowe-Akins teamwork.
