In a genre ("smooth jazz" or what I refer to as instrumental R&B) that is often long on style and short on substance, Peter Horvath stands out. I traveled to San Francisco on a business trip and being a former professional jazz musician myself, went to check out some of the local clubs. I happened upon a club with a band that Peter Horvath was playing in and was "floored". His lines were harmonically complex, melodically logical, funky AND he swings!

His bebop credentials are rock solid. Based on that one night (truly one of the highlights of my two week stay in San Fran), I searched the web for anything recorded by him and found this album. I've found it thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish - not for the writing necessarily which is good but not ground breaking - but for the artistry of this talented pianist!

Peter Horvath is one of THE most talented pianist's I have EVER heard in my life! 'Taken Hearts', 'Something For Now', and 'Where Is The Love' are absolutely OUTSTANDING! This guy is in the top 5 of the world's finest! A must for the serious piano lover!

Peter Horvath's "Foreign Matter" Cd is one that is very consistent. There is not a bad track on this CD. I have listened to it over and over and never tire of the great licks and keyboard solos that are very different in each song. Combined with great back up musicians (drums, horns, bass) makes this a CD that is worth its weight in gold! I hope that Peter continues to produce these excellent pieces of work!

We checked this out from our library and my son really seems to respond to it. We like it better than Baby Einstein because it is real music not synthesized although I think my son likes the Baby Einstein as well.
