Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Nice Brazilian/Latin/Jazz.......2003-01-17

Herbie Mann has alot of music to offer us. His opalescence album is well recorded overall, but in my opinion it falls short of being among his best. A nice collectible for Herbie Fans. It features talented musicians playing various styles of brazilian jazz with some latin rythyms mixed in as well. Lots of percussion insruments are used based around intricate drumming and some excellent guitar, bass and keyboards. Herbie Mann, of course is sensational on the flute. Herbie is in his element while playing this type of jazz. Although I personally would have preffered that he mix it up with other musical styles. Still a nice album to listen to. Very interesting musically yet relaxing at the same time. Fast Fact: Herbie actually started out playing tenor sax and clarinet before finally switching to flute. Lucky for us! I could only give this 3 stars due to a somewhat short running time. Only features 9 tracks. Final thought: If the price is right buy it. !! the dictionary calls opalescence- a cloudy iridescence that resembles the play of colors in an opal. A translucent milkiness with a fiery red undertone !!.

5 out of 5 stars Sunday morning.......2005-02-21

Sunday Morning is an excellent compilation of songs. Some are written by Mimi Blais, some by other composers.
This is a great album to relax to; most find it strangely relaxing.
But it is the genius in the melodies of Mimi Blais, and also the natural talent, that makes this album worth buying.
