This is music at it's very best!!!!!!Kick back and remember when.
I am almost 80 but this makes me feel like dancing all night.I will be watching the mailbox for this delivery.I will purchase this one for friends. My family loves to come for dinner and to listen to my music--wait until they hear this one.

It was wonderful to listen to this music again. I hadn't heard anything from this duo in sooooo many years. Over the years I misplaced or lost my tape of the original Los Indios Tabajaras "Maria Elena". What a FIND! and to find it in a CD with a combination of 2 albums was even better. Iam so happy with my CD.

I too heard the LP Maria Elena through my father while I was growing up. When I came across this CD it brought back so many memories. Listening to the samples took me back so many years. I can't wait to get it!

I have listened to guitar all my life and heard a lot of great music. However, the music of Los Indios Tabajaras is ,unquestionably, the most exqusite I have ever heard.I don't know anything about the composition of music butI like what I hear. There are only a few who have the gift of being able to talk to many through their music.Los Indios are among that favored few.Thank God for C.D.s so that this genius will not be lost to future generations.

Like one of the previous reviewers, I was introduced to this wonderful music through my father. We had a Scott stereo system at home with Tannoy speakers - and this music is some of my most favourite. I had the honour of seeing their farewell concert at Massey Hall in Toronto in the fall of 1979, and I cried all the way through it. I have looked for their recordings in CD's for years, and am happy at last to be able to purchase them. Is "Casually Classic" no longer available? How sad - it was one of their best. I danced to "Maria Elena" with my father at my wedding - it remains one of my most cherished moments. These artists will not pass our way again - do yourself and your CD collection a favour, and buy them - today.

A magazine long ago called "Bon Voyage" a collection of "Paris and Rome favorites." So it is, and the collection is subtitled "Continental Souvenirs." "Carefree" tells us more about Percy Faith's personality than his travelogues - with all selections written AND arranged by Faith. "Go-Go-Po-Go," a strongly rhythmic AND melodic Faith original that was the "B" side of the single of "Summer Place;" now it's in this collection with several other great Faith originals, including "Lisa," taken from a radio play Faith scored years ago. Pianist Percy Faith, a pioneer of the Easy Listening genre, had a successful and lengthy career as the in-house conductor and arranger for Columbia Records. Faith was renowned for his musical interpretations of Broadway and motion picture music. 2 on 1 reissue from Collectables, originally released in 1960 & 1961, features 23 tracks clocking in at 68 minutes. 2003.

Percy Faith is the master of arranging selections by other composers ~ take for instance this original two LP's on one CD "Bon Voyage" (CS 8214 in 1960) and "Carefree" (CS 8360 in 1961-all songs composed by Percy Faith) ~ his tasteful treatments always highlights the quality of the composition, ultimately making them a hit all over again. Faith's formula was always to keep the arrangements fresh and new with his distinctive signature style ~ with the wave of his baton, the Percy Faith award winning orchestra is ready to strut their stuff.

Percy Faith was a staple of outstanding music during the '50s, '60s and '70s ~ his sound is unmistakable, which compiles of lush string orchestral performances ~ a treat for the ears ~ "MORGEN", "ANEMA E CORE", "MON ONCLE", "LA VIE EN ROSE", "UNDER PARIS SKIES" and "ARRIVDERCI, ROMA" Maestro Faith meets the challenge with flying colors ~ listen for Faith's originality and warmth with every cue.

Second half of the album consists of eleven Percy Faith compositions ~ "BLUE IS THE NIGHT", "BOUQUET", "BRAZILIAN SLEIGH BELLS", "CAREFREE", "CARESS", "GO-GO-PO-GO", "GOIN' HOME TRAIN", "LISA", "NO ONE BUT YOU", "PIZZICATO POLKA" and "QUIA QUIA" ~ get ready to be entranced by an audio bouquet of sound ~ Faith's scoring is wonderful and miraculous with full bodied dynamics, sends his fans into a musical frenzy ~ Percy has such a zestful enthusiasm, sharing with the listener, not only what they're looking for, but then some!     Rosa Passos has done one of her best album.
    There won't be any comparision with Joao Gilberto, just because Rosa's style goes in other way, even the sensation looks like the same. Rosa Passos has an excelente notion of the sound that has to be produced, and just do it. As an ensemble, as basic like this, her singing style and rhythm is amazing.
    Especially in this cd is the best recording of "Waters of March" (Aguas de Marco), as she became to the edge of the beat, the broken beat, voice, arrangement, and guitar playing (harmony and "inside beat").

    This is the bossa nova album you were looking for but could never find. No syrupy violins or overproduced arrangements. Just a beautiful voice, guitar, and bass. Also try Rosa Passos Canta Jobim for a " cover album " that surpasses the originals.

    This new CD by Rosa Passos will surely invite comparisons with Joao Gilberto's recent study in understatement "Voz E Violao." It's basically just Rosa and her guitar and fourteen gentle (though rhythmically varied) melodies perfectly suited to her soft expressive voice, which has an insinuating quality not unlike Gilberto's. On the basis of the material and Passos' exquisite singing, I think I would rate this CD 4+ stars, just shy of her "best of" compilation. But that's discounting the presence of Paulo Paulelli on string bass, which takes this CD to another level entirely. While providing a conventional foundation beneath the syncopated pulse of Passos' guitar, Pauletti occasionally deploys his instrument like a second voice, following the melodic line in an oddly-affecting way (listen, for example, to the melancholic lead-in to "Agua Doce"). "Bass vocalese" might be the best way to describe it. In any event, it works wonderfully! Which is why I'm upgrading to 5 stars.

    Addendum: I've listened to this CD some 20 or 30 times since I first reviewed it and, if anything, I'm even more enthusiastic about it. The synergy among voice, guitar, and bass (I guarantee you haven't heard bass-playing like this!) is just plain wonderful. It's very consistent from beginning to end--great songs, great singing--and for that reason I would now rate it above Rosa's "best of" compilation. It's traditional bossa nova at its very best.

    Julian Bream not only plays the guitar, and the lute
    (although purists and I suspect Bream himself would say rather unconventionally), but most of all, Bream plays MUSIC. This is very, very important. There are many fine guitarists around today, but I doubt any could match Bream's sheer musicality when these recordings were made.
    This 28 CD box set is a lesson in music making, regardless of what instrument is being played. The recordings are the complete RCA Bream catalogue from 1959 to 1989. If you can find the complete box set or even any of the individual volumes, I suggest you make the purchase. (Shame on RCA and BMG for not keeping this box set and "all" the individual volumes in print.)
    Some of the higlights of Breams remarkable talent are his
    interpretations of Britten's "Nocturnal", Walton's "Five Bagatelles", the instrumental and vocal works (with tenor Peter Pears) of Dowland, the "first" complete guitar works of Villa-Lobos, a thorough history of the guitar in Spain from the Renaissance to the Present on period instruments, plus all the works that have become classical guitar standards by Bach, Sor, Giuliani, Albeniz, Rodrigo, plus the "new" standards by Brouwer, Arnold, Berkeley, Britten, Walton, etc.
    Music making of this caliber is rare indeed. Buy it if you can find it. Good Luck !

    If you can find this set buy it fast. There are not to many of these left out there. This has it all. Plus Julian Bream is the greatest guitarist of all time.

    This a an wonderful collection of Julian Bream. He is the master of master . I always admire his talent as a genius of this centure.

    Who don't want to have a wonderful classical guitar collection? Well, this pack consists in 28 CDs, more than 1.000 minutes of music, distribuited by different titles as Baroque Guitar, Spanish Guitar, etc. Some highlights are here, like Asturias, Fernando Sor variations on Mozart's Magic Flute, Paganini Grand Sonata, all Preludes and Etudes of Villa-Lobos, and, well, lots of really good things. Also, there are some cds Julian Bream plays Guitar with Orchestra, or with Harpsichords. Ah, he plays lute in some too. Unfortunately, there are 2 or 3 cds where a tenor sings and another which a woman says some poems, and those, in my opinion, are not very nice. So, it's a good collection, and if you can, buy it!!
