    The Bayou Brass Band has a unique sound thanks to band founder Jesus "Chuy" Martinez and his sousaphone. I don't know of another jazz band using a tuba for the primary rhythm instrument rather than a bass. The band has a playful improvisational feel reminiscent of Louis Prima. They have great banter and play just as tight as Louis and Sam Butera did. The only difference I would like to see is more original numbers. The best cuts are: #1, 2nd Line Funk, #10 Mean Old Wally Brown both written by Duane Ben-jamin, #11 Johnny Sweetwater's Silk Pimp Pants written by Matt Fronke, and a pair of bluesy numbers by Charlie Peterson, #2 Dr. Big Fingers, and #4 Comin' Home. There are some great covers on the LP, most notably Hurbie Hancock's Cantaloop arranged by Charlie Peterson, and Paul Barbarin's Bourbon St. arranged by Matt Fronke.
    Buy "In Our Shoes" (and anything else these guys press) it's the best 17 bucks you'll spend.

    This CD is one you'll want to listen to over and over again. Whether cruising with the gang on 'Low Rider'or jammin' with Ben-Jamin' on 'In Our Shoes' or laughing at the hilarious antics of 'Ol' Wally Brown', it's an experience you won't forget.

    Every single track on this CD makes you feel like you are right in front of the BBB enjoying their songs. The amazing sounds and background quips warm up cold hearts and brighten even the darkest of days. And the energy the guys have in person is well-represented on the album and is unleashed whenever you listen to it, no matter which song!

    The Bayou Brass Band has a remarkable sound that gets your body jumping! You can tell these guys are having fun and you can't help but smile and sing along. These fellas are extremely talented and know how to pump up your day!!! Thanks for putting out a CD that really is a staple in the music lovers collection!!!
