The two musicians who have been with ReBirth from the start are the Frazier brothers, Philip on tuba and Keith on bass drum. It's no coincidence that these low-pitched rhythm instruments been the unchanging factor in the band, for the ReBirth sound is built from the bottom up. The Fraziers get the syncopated groove "rollin'," as the title has it, and snare drummer Ajay Mallery and the six horn players climb on board. This allows a rare combination of freedom and discipline, for the horns can play almost anything as long as they stay in the groove. All sorts of melodies surface in the wild jamming which ensues. Cannonball Adderley's "Mercy Mercy Mercy" is credited on this album; Funkadelic's "One Nation Under a Groove" and other songs aren't. Since-departed members Kermit Ruffins and Stafford Agee make brief appearances, but the focal point of the band is Roderick "Claude" Paulin. The lone remaining reed player, Paulin wrote or cowrote the four powerful instrumentals which kick off the recording. After testing the limits of New Orleans parade music for 47 minutes, ReBirth finish the album with a solidly traditional version of the old hymn, "Just a Little While to Stay Here." --Geoffrey Himes

ALABAMA is the best!!!!!!!!!.......2006-06-29
This group was in its heyday when I was in high school. I love listening to all the old songs again! This is a great collection!
RCA vs. ARISTA version.......2006-06-01
Hello to everybody. Someone told me that the ARISTA (anerican) version contains an unreleased track and a live track plus than the RCA (english) version. Someone have more info about?
Many thanks in advance.

A listening delight for fans.......2006-04-27
Well, just play me some "Mountain Music." It's been 25 years since Alabama signed its first record deal with RCA, and in celebration RCA/Legacy has released the three-disc box set Alabama: Livin' Lovin' Rockin' Rollin': The 25th Anniversary Collection, covering the Alabama phenomenon.
Unlike 2005's The Essential Alabama set, this collection cherry picks songs from across the years. Plenty of hits are to be had as well as eight previously unreleased tracks. The set comes with a detailed 52-page book with photos, band timeline, track annotations and an essay by Robert Oermann. This set tells about the band's legacy and gives you an understanding of why RIAA named them the "Country Band of the Century."
From the get go, disc 1 captures you with "My Home's In Alabama (Live)," "Forty Hour Week (For A Livin')," an anthem for millions of people, and a seven-plus minute medley of "That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine/Suppertime/Teach Your Children/Don't It Make You Want To Go Home." This is followed by "Mountain Music," which always gets my foot tapping.
Disc 2 starts out with "Feels So Right," a song that millions (me included) slow danced to many times in the '80s. A song that surprised me was Alabama's version of "God Must Have Spent A Little More Time on You," with 'N Sync doing the harmony vocals. Though 'N Sync made the song famous, Alabama added real feeling to it. Granted, they're different music genres, but it's the quintessential Alabama that has been keeping it "real" all these years while America's popular music tastes have varied widely from the artificial sounding '80s, the grunge '90s and whatever it's called today.
Disc 3 just keeps the good music rolling and finishes off with an interesting trio of songs, the story-telling "Ripperly O'Tucke (Demo)," the name dropping "Hats Off" and ending appropriately with "The Fans."
51 songs including almost two dozen number one songs, over half a dozen live/alternate versions, and eight previously unreleased tracks, Livin' Lovin' Rockin' Rollin' is worthy of anyone's music collection.
"We hope you remember, we are just the boys in the band. And what keeps the fires a'burnin,' is always, you the fans." Many fans remember fondly all right. Alas, the band's retirement from the road won't keep fans from looking forward to more recordings.
Must Have.......2006-03-20
This Anniversary album is a must have for anyone who appreciates what country music is all about. The group's timeline and explanation of how each song on the album came to be is great. The pictures provided are awesome and help explain their roots in Ft. Payne, AL and what the "Boys" have accomplished. The mix of songs is great and a few that I'd never heard before. If you don't have it, get it.

A rich, career spanning box set.......2006-02-24
In celebration of 25 years since their signing to RCA, the newly formed RCA/Legacy has issued the group's first triple-disc set. In contrast to 2005's two-disc "Essential" set, this collection is more of a full band biography than a straightforward recitation of their chart hits. There are hits to be heard (including nearly two-dozen #1s, seventeen in their original studio incarnation, and a half-dozen in live or alternate versions), but there's also a good helping of cherry-picked album tracks, and eight previously unreleased sides. Together with the richly detailed 52-page book (which includes a lengthy essay by Robert Oermann, track annotations, a band timeline and a generous helping of rare photos), this is a lot more than a triple-CD set, it's a package that tells the band's entire story, including their chronology, live performances, and, as mentioned, a good helping of their incredible string of hits.
Over the course of their 22 years with RCA, Alabama defined what it was to be a successful country music band. In an industry dominated by star singers and their backing players, Alabama looked to both the '70s Southern rock experience (Allmans, et al.) and the twangy style of Nashville to forge a new country identity. Their electric guitars and drums are topped with pure country harmonies, and their songs (both originals and those picked up from others' pens) were down-home. While the rock world was busy with the purposely artificial sounds of new wave throughout the '80s, Alabama kept the guitars and drums burning, particularly in their live performances, and turned out touching ballads with equal ease. Their '90s hits like "I'm in a Hurry (and Don't Know Why)" are prime examples of how modern country could take in pop influences without becoming crossover mush, and latter-day top-20s like "The Cheap Seats" and "Born Country" are filled with warmth.
Those looking to understand Alabama's chart dominance may be better served by last year's two-disc set, but anyone who wants to learn (or relive) the band's whole story would be well-served by this new set. Longtime fans will enjoy the opportunity to recount select album tracks, listen to several well-known hits in live versions (and in the case of "Face to Face," an alternate studio take), and hear unreleased items that include the one-off 1982 live medley of "That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine / Suppertime / Teach Your Children / Don't It Make You Want to Go Home" and the 1973 Randy Owen acoustic demo of "Ripperly O'Tucke." Those who first heard these songs in their original release may find the lack of chronological ordering to be disconcerting, but overall the programming flows smoothly.
This isn't the all-encompassing Alabama box set that will satiate everyone's needs - there are far too many hits missing, or replaced by live versions to be definitive. But as a retelling of the rise and sustained artistry of country music's most successful band - the band that defined success as a country music group - it's a winner. Gotta Keep Rolling.......2004-01-25
This is one of the best albums, every track a winner, haven't stopped playing it since it arrived. Some years ago I bought Della and the Dealer on vinyl which had eight tracks on it. As my turntable has been disconnected for a while I thought I would try Amazon to try and find it on CD. This CD you sent was even better with 25 tracks. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
Every track is now a favourite!
one of the true bargains in cd's.......2001-11-07
Before I bought this cd I was familiar with only a handful of Hoyt Axton's songs. For a cd with so many tracks I still don't skip over many of them. You could buy a box full of cd's and still not have as much great music as you'll find here!
gotta keep on rollin.......2000-04-04
I've been listening to Hoyt since 1970. This is a good representation of his work. His best songs were never the most popular ones. IN A YOUNG GIRLS EYES pretty much says it all for me. There will never be another one like him.
This CD is the greatest!.......1999-12-05
I've listened to this CD over and over and have yet to get tired of it. I had the chance to work with Hoyt about 10 years ago on a TV show he was doing in the area. He was the nicest person you could imagine. This CD is definitely one for the collection.
This is the best of Hoyt Axton!.......1999-11-04
This CD contains all the very best songs of Hoyt Axton. It is even more precious since we lost him forever last week. Hope you're enjoying that Rusty Old Halo, Hoyt!

Probably the best you can expect from these guys.......2007-05-05
If you were to only buy one Kottonmouth Kings album, this would have to be it. Altough in my opinion it has alot of filler songs(songs not meant to be great but good enough for hardcore fans). This cd best represents the group and acts like an introduction into their type of genre. Songs which are the most notable are as follows;
Sleeper- A fast-paced intro into the world of suburb-pop-punk-hip hop which this group seems to engulf itself in.
Rest of my life- A classic stoner tune in every aspect. Even if you don't smoke weed, you'll catch yourself singing along.
Strange Dayz- A great example of how KMK can get down lyrically with a hard hip-hop flavor.
Tangerine Sky- My personal favorite, call it ska, punk, or even hip-hop. Something about KMK can appeal to just about anybody.
Awesome cd.......2007-01-30
Just about every song on this album is awesome. KMK are one of my favorite bands. If you like bands such as ICP, Twiztid, or Rehab. Then you will love the KMK
Amazing!.......2006-08-01
This album is great. ALL of their stuff is great. Fantastic music to smoke to.
My favourite KMK album.......2006-06-01
This album is an underground classic! No bad songs on this album at all. I highly recommend this album to everyone, wheather you're a rap fan or a punk fan, it dosen't matter, this album has something for everyone. Even my mum likes some of KMK's songs (Positive Vibes, Let The Sunshine, Peace Of Mind, Tangerine Sky), and my mum hates all rap usually lol. Anyways, everyone should buy this album. \

Grown Folks Music.......2004-07-28
The Braxton Brothers are serving up a double dose of soulful grooves on this album, Rollin'. I heard their new single, It's You featuring Jamie Hawkins in the club in Los Angeles and really was impressed and decided to buy the record.
I truly appreciate this album because it represents jazz as well as r&b and epitomizes real musicianship. I recommend the Braxton Brothers, Rollin' to all my music lovers who are looking for feel good music that takes you back to the time when people use to hand dance and sit on the porch and listen to music and drink ice tea.
The Braxton Brothers are the real deal!
Braxton Brothers/Rollin.......2004-05-25
A must for any smooth jazz collection. The Braxton Brothers are an Outstanding pair of artist!!! Keep the creative jazz & R&B flavor coming
Another Decent Outing From Two of the Bay Area's Best!.......2004-05-22
I deliberately decided to wait to review this latest outing so that I could be as objective as possible about two Bay Area musicians I know I will always be partial to. The collaboration of their jazz stylings with a decidedly R&B flavor works quite well. I know that whatever product these brothers submit will be well worth it.
On this, their fourth outing, it is admittedly not on par with the last outing, the glorious "Both Sides." But this does not mean at all that I wasted my money purchasing this project. I see this as building a collection from a couple of excellent artists who can't always hit the mark each time. Yet there is ample evidence of comfort in their zone, the ability to keep the listener quite interested in their music, and a promise of excellent things to come. To pick out specific cuts and dissect each one results in the critic not being able to see the forest for the trees and in this instance it is infintiely more important to enjoy the project as a whole. Each listener will undoubtedly have their favorite cuts as it should be. But taken as a whole, this is another very commendable effort.
In the final analysis, this is a most worthy outing and a welcome addition to your smooth jazz collection; it should not disappoint in the least. It is just that when you follow an artist closely, you know intimately whether they reached the mark. The Braxton Brothers are a class act and I eagerly anticipate thier future projects as well as their contributions to others. Thanks again, guys for a nice, smooth, jazz-listening treat.
Heavenly music !!!!!.......2004-04-29
"When you touch me", created in the studio by Nelson and Wayne Braxton, must surely belong to the best that the human ear has ever heard.
This piece of music is a happy and relaxed composition which is technically refined and rhythmical, whithout being artifical!
It is the kind of music you can play for 24 hours and it helps to transform your day.
The two brothers have with "When you touch me" secured their place on a double throne in the Hall of Fame among such artists as Miles Davis, Bette Midler and Elvis!
It's a must! Buy it!
Very Smooth and Flowing.......2004-02-25
I'm a big fan of the Braxton Brothers and I found a promo copy of this cd in a store about 5 days before it was due to be released, so I snatched it up right away. The songs are all very smooth and just seem to flow right out at you, yet still have that great beat that is the trademark of the Braxton Brothers. Some of the smoother songs include "Don't Stop", "Blue Sands", "Tonight" and "Anything for You". While those songs having a good beat include "I Want You for Myself", "When You Touch Me", and "Rollin". There are two songs which feature vocals "It's You" and "Love is Crazy". "It's You" has it all. It's soft with a good beat and romantic lyrics. "Love is Crazy" isn't all that bad, but it really didn't do much for me. This cd is definitely worth checking out.

Robert's "electric charisma".......2006-08-10
I am the current road drummer for Cleveland Fats, who played with Robert for 20+ years. I had the opportunity to meet Robert at his 90th birthday party. It was a humbling experience for me. The man is truly a legend yet only popular in the blues world. This album displays Robert's "electric charisma" and should be proof enough to anyone that Robert is one of the finest blues players of our time.
Steady Rollin Lockwood.......2004-02-02
Robert Lockwood is on this cd with a few buddys of his. The Three Aces. Fred Below,Dave Myers and Louis Myers.
This cd was Robert's first album as a leader. Robert and the Aces are awesome performers. They are also on a Import Cd BluesLive.
This is not Robert's greatest cd but certainly a great debut album. If you enjoy nice ol blues music you will like this album.Robert is 89 years old and still travels the country.
Great Performance.......1999-12-14
One does not have to be a blues expert to see that there are some fine musicians on this recording that acompany one of the greatest blues guitarist that ever lived, not to mention the most under rated. These guys travelled with and sat in the studio with the greatest blues music ever. This collection shows all of the polish that you would expect from that type of experience. Robert Lockwood shows us on this recording that you do not need large amplifiers to cook. I saw him a few months ago sit on a tall stool with nothing but a twelve string and not another soul in sight and simply hypnotized me and the rest of the audience. He does exactly that on this cd. You will enjoy listening to this if for no other reason but to hear true artistry in the blues.

Like that of every rock & roll star of the '50s, Fats Domino's claim to fame was made in the singles market. In fact, Domino had been recording hit singles at Imperial for eight years before the label released his first LP in 1956. Indeed, what's most interesting about Rock and Rollin' with Fats Domino (not to be confused with its follow-up, Fats Domino Rock and Rollin'), repackaged here with his third LP, This Is Fats Domino (not to be confused with his fifth LP, This Is Fats), is that the tracks were recorded over those eight years (beginning with 1949's "The Fat Man") and yet his style never changed. Domino's hit singles can be found on My Blue Heaven. This one's for those who want to hear obscure tracks such as the original version of "Rose Mary" (written for his wife) and 1952's "Reeling and Rocking." --Bill Holdship
Customer Reviews:
Important Fats Domino Reissues.......2001-12-17
If you are a fan of New Orleans Rhythm and Blues, Fats Domino is required listening. "This is Fats Domino" was my first Fats Domino LP, so I'm biased! I'm happy to see these are coming out in their original formats.
Before these Collectibles sets came out the only way to my knowledge one could get all these songs on CD was to shell out for the Bear Family complete Fats Domino recordings "Out of New Orleans"--something I couldn't afford. The 4-CD box set that was widely available a few years back confined itself mainly to hits. But many gems were omitted, and some of those appear here. In particular, the instrumentals "Swanee River Hop," and "Fat Man's Hop" (not "Shop", as printed on the Amazon playlist) show more the extent of Fats's piano skills than most of his hit songs. Buy this CD and settle back for some REAL rock and roll!

This Muddy Waters Band veteran's laconic singing and sweet-toned guitar on numbers like "Tears of Rage" give In North Carolina a graceful, relaxed quality--at least until Margolin comes charging in with the whinnying slide style he learned from Muddy or chomps down on a high-energy shuffle like Waters's "Lonely Man Blues." Either way, the debut album for his own Steady Rollin' label is literally a down-home affair. He describes the mix of 14 new and classic tunes as what he'd play for his wife and pets in their North Carolina house, and it was recorded, with Margolin playing almost all the instruments, not far from his door. The songs are full of vintage guitar sounds and iconic licks, and ricochet from the acoustic ragtime of the double-entendre-packed "You Rascal You" to the purring slide-powered instrumental "Colleen." Although Margolin is the leading exponent of Waters's staccato slide technique, he proves here that he's also adept at mimicking lap- and pedal-steel voices on conventional guitars. And the bonus track is the first recording of one of the excellent short stories he's become known for in blues circles, an emotional tale about a special night in a dingy roadhouse titled "You Never Know." --Ted Drozdowski

Rock-A-Billy Review.......2007-02-21
A very good cd, with lots of fun rock-a-billy songs. Well worth the money.
Can't wait to get this cd down to the station and start playing some of the cuts over the air. The first in this set is good as well. Neither disc has very good liner notes, but are both worth a listen.

Album Description
This album consists of one cantata, two suites and eight spirituals in choral settings by nationally acclaimed composer/arranger Alice Parker. The cantata "Listen, Lord" for solo contralto, chorus, and jazz combo sets the text of the opening prayer from "God's Trombones", James Weldon Johnson's imaginative recreation of sermons remembered from his youth.
